- Key drivers of growth are a rapid collection turnover and intensive sponsorship, which combines visibility, feedback from professionals and product development.

- Modern cycle helmets have been proven to reduce serious head injuries; around 79 per cent of the models tested passed the safety tests.
- CE/EN 1078 specifies only minimum requirements; many helmets had shortcomings in terms of compliance, documentation or individual performance tests.
- For maximum protection, fit, established manufacturers, systems to counter rotational forces and independent testing are more important than the CE mark alone.

Buying a cycle helmet in 2026: Not all helmets are safe, despite the CE mark

- Three essential items for autumn rides: mudguards to keep out the mud, compact front and rear lights, and photochromic glasses for protection and visibility.

Now available for amateur racers too: Alpinestars launches an airbag vest for downhill riders

- The most common MTB injuries affect the upper body, shoulder, hand and wrist; the knee is often overestimated as a risk, but it is still sensible to protect it.
- Protective gear must be tailored to the discipline and level of risk: light for touring/marathons, more protection on trails, and maximum protection in bike parks.
- The helmet is the key piece of protective kit; modern protective designs improve comfort, but are no substitute for riding technique, self-assessment and managing fatigue.
