- Modifying e-bikes to exceed 25 km/h turns them into illegal motor vehicles that may not be used on public roads.
- Without a type-approval certificate, third-party liability insurance and, where applicable, a driving licence, you risk administrative offences, criminal charges and substantial claims for damages.
- Manufacturers can usually detect tampering; if tampering is detected, the warranty on the motor and battery will be void.

E-bike tuning: Watch out for inspections! Legal and financial consequences

- LEVs such as e-scooters and e-cargo bikes can replace car journeys, particularly in suburban and rural areas.
- Safety on cycle paths depends less on the type of vehicle than on how it is used, the rules, speed and adequate infrastructure.
- Separate, clearly signposted traffic lanes and mutual consideration are considered key to safe, diverse mobility.
