Vaude has developed the Moab Pro range includes long mountain bike trousers for demanding trails that are designed to offer protection from undergrowth and mud. The sustainable material concept is particularly interesting: the Moab Pro is made from recycled old tyres. The 2in1 waistband solution without a zip is designed to prevent pressure points and sit comfortably on the hips. With pre-shaped knee sections for protectors and perforations for ventilation, the trousers are ideal for enduro riders. The elasticated material (89% polyamide, 11% elastane) is designed to offer great freedom of movement. The Moab Pro is equipped with two zip pockets, a PFC-free finish, stretch cuffs and airy laser-cut material in the back of the knees. With a weight of 295 grams in size L, the Vaude is relatively light and should not be too sweaty to wear even on warm days.
Slip on and feel good - it sounds trite, but the Moab Pro really is. The lightweight recycled material offers plenty of stretch and a pleasant feel against the skin. The trousers don't get too sweaty on the climbs either, and the perforated material in the back of the knees helps with ventilation. The trousers are easily fastened with a hook fastener. Five fabric eyelets provide sufficient adjustment options.
What we particularly liked was the wide stretch waistband at the back. A feature that we have already mentioned positively in many Vaude trousers. This means that the trousers sit securely even on steep stitches without slipping when pedalling. The relatively long-cut trouser legs, which end in a stretchy mesh finish, are also good. Where other bike trousers often ride up to the calf when pedalling, the Vaude trousers always keep their shape.
The cut of the Moab Pro is also sufficiently wide at the knees. This means that you can wear knee pads for tougher applications without compromising comfort. The material is surprisingly robust for its low weight and can withstand the odd contact with the ground without being damaged. Overall, the trousers are rather large, which is why we recommend sizing down. The only drawback from our point of view is that the seams on the knees can pull a little without pads. Otherwise, the Moab Pro is an all-round successful pair of trail trousers for the transition period.
+ comfortable stretch material
+ stable fit with extended waistband at the back
+ easy width adjustment
+ sufficiently long trouser leg
- Seams in the knee area can pull without a protector
