O'Neal is an established name in the motocross and MTB sector and is known for its good price-performance ratio. Does this also apply to the Trailfinder Pants?

Cycling trousers for under 100 euros are hard to find. With the Trailfinder Pants, O'Neal has a reasonably priced pair of MTB trousers in its range. The robust trail trousers are designed to score points in enduro and bike park use in particular. Functionality at a fair price? In our test, we found out whether the Trailfinder Pants live up to this claim?

Motocross and bike park - this is where you will often find clothing from the US brand, which, as is so often the case, was born out of a passion for the sport. The approach of company founder Jim O'Neal has always been: it's not about maximising profit, but about designing the best possible product for the athlete. This should also be the case with the Trailfinder Pantsbe .

The long trousers come in an inconspicuous look with a robust, stretchy material, two zip pockets and a ratchet-adjustable waistband, as we know it from Fox trousers, for example.

The ratchet fastener is also used by other manufacturers - no wonder, as it makes it easy to close and adjust the trousers.Photo: Georg GrieshaberThe ratchet fastener is also used by other manufacturers - no wonder, as it makes it easy to close and adjust the trousers.

Compared to the competition - where prices of 120 euros and more are now standard - the Trailfinder Pants are an attractively priced pair of bike trousers for enduro adventures and bike park use. I liked the stretchy waistband, which can be adjusted using a ratchet fastener and hardly slips down when pedalling.

Thanks to the stretch insert, the waistband is stable even when pedalling, but could be cut a little higher at the rear.Photo: Georg GrieshaberThanks to the stretch insert, the waistband is stable even when pedalling, but could be cut a little higher at the rear. The Trailfinder Pants don't have any stretch or a zip on the legs, but the fit is still OK but could be a little tighter.Photo: Georg GrieshaberThe Trailfinder Pants don't have any stretch or a zip on the legs, but the fit is still OK but could be a little tighter.

The two zip pockets are positioned offset to the side so that your smartphone or keys don't get in the way when pedalling. In general, the stretchy, robust material moves well on the bike and easily absorbs the occasional contact with the ground. Because the Trailfinder Pants let little wind through, they are also warm enough for autumn. Disadvantage: On warm days, the trousers quickly feel sweaty - the mobile phone display was sometimes soaking wet after the tour. The trouser legs are pleasantly long, but could be tighter. No-go: The cross seams above the knees rub when pedalling.
