For the 2023 season, Cube has updated both the Cube Reaction hardtail and the Stereo fully and its e-bike variants, the Hybrid. These two model families have had a firm place in the mountain bike community for years and are therefore almost classics. Cube had been waiting behind the curtain for a long time before revealing the secret that one version of each will be equipped with ABS from Bosch/Magura.
You can find all of Cube's innovations for the 2023 season here:
At the Eurobike 2022 Bosch presented its ABS braking system, which was developed together with Magura for mountain bikes. Cube is now incorporating this added safety into its Reaction Hybrid Hardtail. As the ABS 750, it is similar to the SLT 750 in terms of its equipment, apart from a few individual points. In addition to the Magura MT C ABS disc brake, the Cube Reaction Hybrid ABS 750 has Cube's in-house wheels and a different crankset. Due to the technically more complex braking system, which also enables safe braking on gravel, the price increases by 200 euros to 4599 euros. However, the additional riding safety provided by the ABS braking system not only comes at a (relatively low) price, but the weight of the two ABS versions of the Cube Reaction Hybrid is also 25.5 kg (Easy Entry) and 25.9 kg - around 2 kilos more than the SLT 750.
The second evergreen from Cube, the Cube Stereo Hybrid E-Fully, also has new features. As with the Reaction Hybrid, the biggest is the availability of the Bosch anti-lock braking system for e-bikes. Cube offers it in the Stereo Hybrid 120 ABS 750 and 140 HPC ABS 750 model variants.
The 120 with ABS is also based on the Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 SLX 750. With its aluminium frame, it comes in at 26.4 kilos and a price of 5099 euros, according to Cube. However, a Fox 34 Float suspension fork with 120 millimetres of travel and a Fox Float DPS shock are already installed. The E-Fully also comes with a 4th generation Bosch Performance CX motor with 85 Nm torque, including a 750 Powertube, Kiox display and Smart System. The Newmen Performance 30 wheels, which are fitted with 2.6-inch Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres, also ensure good propulsion. Cube's own dropper post is also fitted to the 120 ABS. Apart from the small box on the fork responsible for controlling the ABS, the Stereo Hybrid with ABS is visually recognisable by its blue-grey colour. Compared to the e-hardtails, the sizes have been tightened up a little: XXL is not available.
The Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC ABS 750 has only three different letters in its name than the 140 HPC Race 750but there is so much more behind ABS on this model variant! Not only has the ABS brake system from Bosch/Magura been installed here, but the chassis, wheels and tyres are also different. And for the price, there is also the C:62 carbon skin frame with an aluminium rear triangle. The ABS bike from Cube heats up the trails with a Fox 34 Rhythm (150 mm) and a Fox Float DPS shock. It rolls on Newman Performance 30 wheels with 2.6-inch Schwalbe Hans Dampf tyres. At the front as Addix Soft, Super Trail - at the rear as Addix Speedgrip, Super Trail. In the end, these specs only add 100 grams to the weight (24.9 kg). However, the price rises to 5599 euros - a whopping 800 euros more compared to the Stereo Hybrid model variant without Bosch ABS.
