Tool

- 3min19sec Premium torque wrench: precise, top rating in the BIKE test, currently reduced from 89.99 to 44.99 euros
- Torque range 2–26 Nm, 0.2 Nm increments, includes Allen and Torx bits, compact soft case, deviation in the test virtually zero
- Points of criticism: short handle, ratchet action sometimes a little rough, occasionally imprecise mechanics; the locking mechanism must be fully engaged

- The Brush Bar adds a washing station to the Feedback Sports repair stand for regular MTB cleaning in wet and muddy conditions.
- Set: Wash Caddy with hooks and shelves, thru-axle chain keeper, three brushes, microfibre cloth and mesh bag; Brush Bar load capacity 11.3 kg.
- Compatible with Feedback Sports stands, height-adjustable; US market launch mid-September 2026, price 64.95 euros, packaging made from 80 per cent recycled material.

TOOLS

- Regular, gentle cleaning improves safety, prevents a loss of braking performance and reveals any damage to the frame and components.
- High-pressure washers with high bar ratings damage bearings; it is better to use a garden hose, allow the cleaner to work in and scrub it in with a brush.
- Only oil the chain when necessary; dry it first and wipe down the outer links; avoid using WD40 or penetrating oil, as these dissolve the bearings’ base lubrication.

Mountain bike maintenance: I bet you’ve made one of these mistakes too

- A repair stand with 360-degree rotation and a fork mount, developed in collaboration with mechanics from the UCI team VAN RYSEL Roubaix to speed up maintenance.
- Pressure-free bike clamping via a fork clamp with a patent-pending system, designed to withstand high torques and cleaning with a high-pressure washer.
- Flat rail to prevent dirt build-up, removable tool tray, load capacity 30 kg, price €174.99, available from 9 November in several EU countries.

Workshop: Decathlon Pro 360 Bike Workstand for keen DIY mechanics

- Decathlon offers three new bicycle tool kits for different levels of maintenance, priced between 24.99 and 39.99 euros.
- Starter kit: Basic tools for beginners, including a pedal spanner, chain gauge, tyre levers, bits, Allen keys and sockets.
- Plus and Ultim kits: Specialised tools for the drivetrain, gears, crankset, bottom bracket, wheels and disc brakes, each with a tailored selection of tools.

New tools from Decathlon: three tool sets for beginners and professionals

- Magazine-style screwdriver with ratchet function, bit storage in the handle for 12 flat, Phillips and Torx bits, suitable for standard bicycle screws
- Precise, silent ratchet mechanism with a return angle of almost 0°, max. torque 30 Nm, can also be used as a standard screwdriver
- Ergonomic two-component handle with neodymium magnet holder, weight 240 g, length 24.5 cm, price 33.99 euros; retrieving bits from the storage compartment is a little stiff

- Noises on a mountain bike are usually caused by friction, play, dirt or loose connections and should be systematically traced to their source.
- Critical issues include cracks, excessive bearing play, loose brake parts, motor problems and damage to carbon or e-bike components – these require a specialist workshop.
- Diagnostic plan: Identify the noise and its cause; check the bike whilst stationary; work from the rear to the front; test only one measure at a time; and carry out a safety check.

Squeaking, creaking, cracking, clattering, rattling: analysing noises on a bicycle

- Compact Wera bicycle maintenance set with a cross-handle ratchet, precision bits and a wall rack for typical maintenance tasks at home.
- Strengths: high build quality, ergonomic handling, good power transmission and a snug fit for the bits.
- Weaknesses: Torx screwdriver instead of long Torx bits; limited leverage for tight-fitting or deep-set screws.

Review of the Wera bicycle maintenance kit: strengths and weaknesses

- Pro Air Lift is a pneumatic, portable assembly stand for e-bikes weighing up to 45 kg, requiring no electricity or battery power.
- It offers a working height of 108–169 cm, weighs 8.1 kg, uses compressed air supplied by a floor pump or compressor, and is lowered via a foot-operated valve.
- Price: 725 euros; fully repairable with spare parts available; aimed at ambitious DIY mechanics and workshops.

Handling heavy e-MTBs: What the new Pro Air Lift assembly stand can do in day-to-day workshop use

- E-MTB stands need a high load capacity (at least 35 kg), a large base and a gentle, easy-to-use clamping mechanism on the seat post.
- Recommended models for heavy e-MTBs: Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD, Topeak PrepStand Team Issue, Park Tool PCS-10.3.
- Where possible, remove the battery before carrying out any work; secure the bike firmly with the seatpost fully extended and ensure the stand is stable.

E-bike workstands: The best workstands for heavy loads

- Chain breaks are usually caused by wear and tear, incorrect gear changes under load, pre-existing damage to the rivets, or faulty quick-links on modern 11- or 12-speed chains.
- For repairs on the go, a chain tool and a suitable quick-link are essential; remove any damaged links, fit the quick-link and check the chain length.
- As a last resort, a single-speed configuration can be used without tools; the best way to prevent problems is to check for wear regularly and replace the chain in good time.

Chain break! What now?: What to do if your chain breaks

- Lightweight, high-end assembly stand (5.3 kg, 25 kg load capacity) made from aluminium and fibreglass composite, designed for sports bikes and lightweight e-bikes.
- Quick-release crank clamp (16–78 mm), 360° clamping head and integrated magnetic mount significantly improve ease of use and ergonomics.
- Compared to the Feedback Sports Pro Elite: lighter and featuring a magnetic mount, but with a lower load capacity and a higher price (379.95 vs. 330 euros).
