At last! The Shimano EP8 has been unveiled. Smaller, lighter, quieter, more powerful. We have an overview of the e-mountainbikes with the new Shimano motor.

The e-mountainbike world has been waiting a long time for the successor to the Steps E8000. Now Shimano has revealed the secret. The newcomer is called EP8! All the info on the new drive from the Japanese company we have prepared in detail in this articleincluding the first practical tests. A constantly updated overview of the e-bikes with EP8 presented so far can be found here!


Unfortunately, all bikes with the new Shimano EP8 will not be available in stores for the time being, as the delivery of the series motors has been delayed. So the wait is not quite over yet.

  Kona is expanding its e-MTB fleet and is using Shimano drives across the board. The top model with EP8 is the Remote 160 DL.   The Ekano from direct-to-consumer Propain will also be updated to the EP8 in 2021. However, it will remain at 504 watt hours. Kelly's Theos

  With the Theos, Kellys wants to create a very special bike with EP8. Together with materials specialist Rein4ced, the frame is made from steel fibre-reinforced carbon. This is intended to increase the strength of the frame. Another special feature is the 720 watt-hour battery, which is pulled downwards out of the entire down tube. With this technology, Specialized, for example, achieves a particularly attractive frame weight. Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach.
