With the new Citylite family, Canyon is launching two models on the market that are designed to make urban cycling easier and more enjoyable. The product line includes the classic Citylite without motorised assistance and the electrically powered Citylite:ON with Bosch motor.
Both Citylite models have been specially developed for urban traffic and are designed to make the daily commute to work, errands or leisure rides more comfortable. With the introduction of this new model range, Canyon is restructuring its urban portfolio and positioning the Citylite as a pure city bike next to the sporty Roadlite and the touring Pathlite. You can find all Canyon models in our large brand overview.
The Citylite family comes with a wide range of basic equipment designed to make everyday use in the city easier. A hub dynamo for the lights, integrated LED lights with brake light function, mudguards, kickstand, pannier rack and a lock integrated into the frame are all factory-fitted. The Citylite:ON also comes with the power of the Bosch Performance Line motor.
Both models have a robust MIK HD luggage carrier, which enables the installation of child seats, baskets or panniers. Optionally, the transport capacity can be extended with a front carrier or a trailer.
The frame is designed for bicycle trailers with a load capacity of up to 60 kilograms, whereby Thule and Croozer models with a low drawbar were tested in particular.
An SP Connect SPC+ E-CAP mount is attached to the stem for smartphone integration. An optional wireless charging module can be retrofitted to the Citylite:ON, which supplies the smartphone with power via the e-bike battery while riding.

Both Citylite models are equipped with aluminium frames and carbon forks. The riding position is upright - this should provide comfort, especially on longer journeys. The Citylite is equipped with a wide Selle Royal Essenza saddle.
The Citylite:ON offers additional riding comfort thanks to a lowerable variable seat post in the step-through version, which can be adjusted without tools - a feature that should be particularly practical if several people are sharing a bike. The step-over version of the e-bike, on the other hand, comes with a fixed seat post.
Maxxis DTR-1 tyres with a width of 47 millimetres also provide additional comfort on the Citylite:ON. Both models have 60 millimetre wide aluminium mudguards, which are designed to provide protection even in bad weather. Ergonomic wing grips are designed to take the strain off hands and wrists.

The Citylite models should score particularly highly with their low-maintenance technology. Both versions are equipped with a Gates belt drive, which requires significantly less maintenance than a conventional chain and is said to have a longer service life.
The classic Citylite has a Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear, while the Citylite:ON is equipped with a Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub gear. Canyon's own Promax Urban Clean disc brakes ensure reliable deceleration on both models.
The Citylite's lighting is powered by a Shimano hub dynamo on the front wheel and includes a Supernova Starstream Mini front light, which is discreetly integrated into the handlebars, and an Iridium M12 rear light. The Citylite:ON has an integrated speed sensor in the rear light, which is designed to provide a brighter brake light when braking - a feature that is intended to increase safety in city traffic.
The Citylite:ON is equipped with the new Bosch Performance Line motor, which delivers a torque of 75 Newton metres and an output of 600 watts. The motor offers four support modes and is controlled via a Bosch Purion 200 display, which also has a push assist function. According to the manufacturer, the easily removable 400 watt-hour battery enables a range of up to 85 kilometres.
As an option, the range can be extended by around 50 kilometres with a 250 watt-hour Powermore range extender. The actual range naturally depends on the selected support mode. According to the Bosch range calculator, the Citylite:ON achieves the following values with a rider weight of 100 kilograms and a cadence of 60 revolutions per minute: Around 85 kilometres in Eco mode at 23 km/h, 53 kilometres each in Tour and Auto mode and a further 40 kilometres in Turbo mode. The battery can be easily removed for charging or charged directly on the bike.
A special feature of the Citylite family is the flexibility in customisation. Both the seat post and handlebars can be easily adjusted, meaning that one bike can be used by several people of different heights. Canyon offers both models in two frame variants: as a classic diamond frame with a horizontal top tube (step-over) and as a step-through step-through model.
The step-over version is designed for people between 165 and 195 centimetres tall, while the step-through version is suitable for riders between 155 and 180 centimetres tall. Particularly practical if the bike is to be shared: the step-through model of the Citylite has a tool-free adjustable Vario seat post, which should make it easier to share the bike with other people. The Citylite:ON can tow a trailer with a load of up to 60 kg.

The new Citylite models from Canyon are now available. Both the Citylite and the Citylite are each available in two frame variants (step-over and step-through) and each with three colour options. The classic Citylite without motor support costs 1499 euros, the e-bike Citylite:ON with Bosch 2999 euros.
