Canyon is expanding its range of everyday bikes for urban use. According to the manufacturer, the new Roadlite is designed to be an attractive, practical and lightweight bike for the diverse requirements of everyday life - without a motor. The Canyon Roadlite:On is the electric sister. Whether running errands, travelling to the train station or visiting friends - the new Roadlite is designed for a dynamic lifestyle with a focus on modern design and sporty, agile bikes. The frame is made of either carbon or aluminium. All models roll on 40 millimetre wide Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres, which are tubeless-ready. This means that the Canyon Roadlite should offer sufficient grip not only on tarmac, but also on dirt tracks, gravel or bumpy forest paths.

Canyon Roadlite: Equipment and variants

The Roadlite family starts with the aluminium Roadlite 7 model at a price of 999 euros. It has a 12-speed drivetrain from Shimano's Deore series and a lightweight carbon fork. The top-of-the-range Roadlite CF 9 model costs €1999 and is equipped with a Shimano XT shifting group, also with 12 gears. It also features a carbon seatpost and a one-piece, 630 millimetre wide carbon handlebar/stem combo with an integrated SPC+ smartphone holder. The total weight of the CF 9 is 9.5 kilograms (manufacturer's specification).

Drive and brakes

To cope with varied terrain and steep climbs, all Canyon Roadlite models have a 10-51 tooth cassette combined with a 44 tooth chainring. This should ensure reduced maintenance and maximum reliability. Shimano MT200 disc brakes with 2 pistons are installed to provide the necessary deceleration.

Ergonomics and accessories

The ergonomic and sporty Ergon GA3 grips and Selle Royal saddles with ergonomic cut-outs are used as contact points. For all its minimalism, the Canyon Roadlite does not dispense with practical options for customisation. It is compatible with the Canyon Sport Rack and mudguards. The optional pannier rack is suitable for commuters with a load capacity of up to 15kg.

Removable mounts on the pannier rack allow the use of alternative suspension systems for panniers. The rear thru axle is compatible with trailers so that up to 50 kilograms of trailer load can be transported if required. The Roadlite also offers mounts for up to three bottle cages and a bike stand. The three models of the Canyon Roadlite AL and CF platforms are now available in two colours and three sizes.
