Fox has given its electronically controlled Live Valve chassis 2022 an update with some new features. Compared to the previous version, the suspension should now remain in open mode more often and for longer, offering a more comfortable ride. With the Live Valve Update 1.5 - as the revised version for 2022 is called - the platforms on the suspension fork and shock are closed later and the suspension elements no longer harden as much as before.
The functionality of the Fox-E suspension remains identical to that of the System presented in 2019. It is based on position and acceleration sensors on the fork, the rear triangle and in the frame triangle. These register whether impacts from the ground are reaching the rider or whether the bike is in the air, uphill or downhill. Based on this information, the Live Valve opens or closes the damping in a fraction of a second. In closed mode, the suspension then switches to the platform preselected by the bike manufacturer. In other words, the suspension does not close completely, but is much more stable in its travel and thus eliminates bobbing. There is no hard lockout. Whether the Live Valve tends towards open mode or the platform in off-road terrain can be adjusted directly on the controller in five stages. This also remains the case with the new Live Valve version.
In addition, however, the individual riding modes can now be selected via the app and even fine-tuned in five stages. Bump Sensitivity - this is what Fox calls the parameter that influences how strong a bump has to be to activate the damping.
