It's been less than six months since we first got to know the new Canyon Spectral 125. However, due to its comparatively high weight, the all-round qualities of the top model at the time were limited. Just in time for this test, the limited special model - the Spectral 125 CF LTD - arrived.

For € 7499, you can get the Canyon Spectral 125 CF LTD equipped with the gourmet morsels on the component list. Four batteries and two button cells keep the electronic Flight Attendant suspension and Sram's X01 AXS drivetrain running. However, the battery management and the complicated suspension setup cost us many a minute on the trail. But if all the components communicate with each other, nothing stands in the way of riding fun. The equipment upgrade also reduces the overall weight compared to the previous bike. Top model of the Canyon Spectral 125by 660 grams to 13.26 kilos - that's worth it.

How the Canyon Spectral 125 rides

In combination with the modern geometry and electronic suspension control, the bike climbs smoothly and, above all, efficiently. However, the licence to shred remains with the mail-order bike. With the slackest steering angle and the most downhill-orientated components in our trail bike test the Spectral 125 is looking for depth metres. The candidate does not appear unmanageable. The short rear suspension travel encourages an active riding style with plenty of support. On very rough terrain, however, the short-stroke rear end slows down the ambitions of the baller geometry and the 140 mm fork. Nevertheless, we liked the mix of enduro genes and short suspension travel so much on the demanding test tracks that our acquaintance quickly developed into a friendship.

Test summary of the Spectral 125 by Max Fuchs, BIKE test editor:

"The Canyon Spectral 125 CF LTD covers an excellent range of use and is best suited to enduro riders looking for a robust trail bike for their home trails. However, the lighter equipment version also makes touring possible."
