For three years now, the successful Enduro YT Industries Capra is optionally available as a 170-millimetre 29er for confident handling even at top speed or in a slightly more nimble 27.5-inch version with 180 millimetres of travel.
The Forchheim-based mail order company is currently upgrading and incorporating the new 38-millimetre forks into its enduro portfolio. The coveted aluminium models have been re-specified for the 2021 model year. There will be two model variants, Base and Pro, each available in 29 or 27.5 inches.
Flat geometry and plenty of suspension travel: fortunately, not much has changed on the tried-and-tested Capra aluminium frame. The geometry is identical to that of the previous aluminium models. New are the Base and Pro versions based on the aluminium frame, which are further trimmed for downhill, while the Pro model was previously available in carbon.
Now more than ever, the bike stands for uncompromising downhill fun, with the new Gunship Blue colourway on top. For the 2021 model year, however, the YT Prices up.
With a purchase price of 2699 euros, the YT Capra Base AL the entry into the long-stroke enduro segment at YT. Compared to the 400 euro cheaper predecessor model, the Rockshox ZEB The thicker fork with 38-millimetre stanchions.
However, the entry-level ZEB largely dispenses with adjustment functions and decouples the bike from the ground with preset compression damping in cooperation with the Superdeluxe shock. The basic 12-speed drivetrain Sram SX Eagle continues to sort the 12 gears on an 11-50 cassette.
The YT Capra Pro AL rolls into the dispatch box for € 3499 on fully adjustable Fox Performance Elite suspension. With the 38 mm front fork, YT has also opted for the thickest available single crown version from Fox.
The Sram GX Eagle with a 10-52 cassette offers more range and therefore a little more touring capability. The two Capra AL models, Base and Pro, are braked by the almost unshakeable Sram Code R with 200-millimetre discs.
Good and bad news for all carbon fans: YT is currently offering the Capra Blaze 29 with the finest Rockshox Ultimate suspension and 29er carbon fibre frame for € 3999, weight: 15 kilos. A successor model to the YT Capra Pro with a carbon fibre frame at the same price is not yet known. And now the less good news: the YT Capra Blaze 29 is limited to just 150 units.
The more massive forks not only improve the suspension performance, the overall more robust equipment is also reflected in the weight: at 15.5 kilograms, the YT Capra Base AL weighs 700 grams more than before in the smallest available frame size, without tubes, pedals or bottle, according to the manufacturer. The YT Capra Base AL 29 is said to weigh 16.1 kilograms. The Pro AL model is specified at 15.0 kilograms (Pro AL 29: 15.5 kilograms).
The YT Capra AL is now available to order worldwide. To the Availability of his bikes YT founder Markus Flossmann commented in the press release as follows: "We expect general availability to improve over the course of the year. Our team is working very hard to cope with demand and keep delivery times as short as possible. You can always find the current delivery times for each model on our website."
