The Specialized Turbo Levo is not exactly cheap. Otherwise, it has few weaknesses. But it does have plenty of battery and motor power, great handling and a downhill performance that some competitors with more suspension travel can only dream of. An exclusive superbike and a worthy E-MTB of the Year in the Enduro category.

Geometry values, suspension travel, spec: values on paper are just grey theory. No bike currently demonstrates this as clearly as the Specialized Turbo Levo. Although the suspension travel of 150 millimetres at the rear is more in favour of a crossover between all-mountain and enduro, we ran the Levo 2021 in our enduro test. The surprise: even bikes with 29 inches and 180 millimetres of travel couldn't follow the wolf in Specialized's sheep's clothing downhill.

Specialized Turbo Levo: Full-throttle enduro instead of a pleasing all-rounder

The third-generation Specialized Turbo Levo has certainly become more extreme. The predecessor was easier to control, more suitable for touring and more comfortable. More all-mountain, less enduro. But what the Levo loses in all-rounder qualities, it more than makes up for in riding performance at high speeds. To put it plainly: this combination of playfulness and agile handling on the one hand and brutal ironing qualities on the other is unrivalled among E-MTBs with large batteries!

The display on the top tube of the Levo offers a lot of information that is easy to read and well presented.

The Specialized Turbo Levo also scores with some smart details. With a flip chip in the chainstay and an angled headset included in the scope of delivery, the geometry can be extensively customised to suit individual preferences. The display in the top tube is beautifully designed and offers a lot of information, well presented and in a small space. The double-secured charging port is pleasing, even if the components could be a little more stable. The price of now 10,200 euros for the Expert model is steep, but the performance matches it.
