Mathieu van der Poel's World Cup victories in Nove Mesto, Val di Sole and Lenzerheide in 2019 and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot's marathon world championship title in Gränichen: These victories can all be attributed to the Racefullys Lux from Canyon. Now the Koblenz-based direct mail order company has launched the brand new Exceed hardtail and its CFR version presented the 2021 models.
The new model year includes seven models between 3000 and 7000 euros. All variants come with the familiar full carbon frame from previous years with space for two water bottles, large 29-inch wheels in all frame sizes and 100 millimetres of suspension travel at the four-link rear. The Lux frame will continue to be available in two different qualities. The more affordable bikes (CF 6, CF 7 and CF 8) will be fitted with the approximately 200 gram heavier CF frame with simpler carbon fibres (1852 grams in size M, without shock). The SLX models from 5000 euros upwards use higher quality carbon fibre mats, and the lightweight Lux frame should then only weigh 1662 grams (in size M, without shock). All models come with familiar Canyon details such as the Quixle thru-axle, the IPU steering stop limiter and a minimalist chain guide. Canyon also equips the SLX version with the carbon handlebar/stem unit introduced on the Exceed. The 740 millimetre wide cockpit with the name "CP 0008" weighs 334 grams (BIKE measurement) and has a stem length of 80 millimetres.
While the CF SLX 9 models as a classic 100-millimetre Racefullys the Lux CF versions are a little more touring and trail-orientated: they come with 110 mm suspension forks and a 0.5 degree slacker head angle. In addition, all 2021 Lux models have the DT Swiss D232 dropper post with 60 millimetre drop on board.
