Ghost Kato Advanced 27.5 AL

The "Kato Advanced 27.5 AL" model from Ghost, released in 2023, is a versatile mountain bike characterised by its robust construction and high-quality components. The frame is made of aluminium (ALUMINIUM KATO AL) and the maximum load capacity is 120 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 15 kg.

Reliable braking performance is provided by the Shimano BRMT200 180 mm disc brakes, which are operated by the Shimano BLMT200 brake levers. The front brake disc is a Shimano SMRT10 with a diameter of 180 mm. The gear system consists of a Shimano Deore RDM4120 10-speed rear derailleur, complemented by a Shimano Deore FDM4100M front derailleur, giving a total of 20 gears.

The bike’s fork is an SR Suntour XCR RLR AIR with 100 mm of travel, which ensures a comfortable ride on uneven terrain. The pedals are FPD NW91K, and the bottom bracket is a Shimano BB52 BSA. The crankset consists of a Shimano Deore FCM4100 with a 36/26 tooth combination, whilst the cassette is a Shimano Deore CSM4100 with an 11-42 tooth range. Power is transmitted via a KMC 10-speed chain.

The handlebars are Ground Fiftyone with a diameter of 31.8 mm and vary in width depending on frame size: 700 mm (XS), 720 mm (S), 740 mm (ML) and 760 mm (XL). The grips are MTB Grip, and the stem is also from Ground Fiftyone, with a length of 50 mm and an angle of 9 degrees. The handlebars are 740 mm wide.

The spokes are by DT Swiss with a gauge of 2.0, and both the front and rear rims are Rodi Excalibur XC19. The tyres are Schwalbe Smart Sam in size 27.5x2.25, fitted to Shimano hubs (HBTX505 QR 100 mm at the front and FHTX505 QR 135 mm at the rear). The saddle is a Selle Italia XBase, and the seatpost is a GHOST SP DC1 with a diameter of 31.6 mm, secured by a GHOST XC 68 seat clamp with a diameter of 34.9 mm.

The frame geometry includes, amongst other things, a reach of 411 mm, a stack of 607 mm, a seat tube length of 440 mm and a top tube length of 590 mm. The head tube angle is 68 degrees, whilst the seat tube angle is 74 degrees. The head tube is 125 mm long, the chainstays are 430 mm long, and the bottom bracket drop is 45 mm. The standover height is 730 mm, the crank length is 170 mm and the wheelbase measures 1110 mm.

The Ghost Kato Advanced 27.5 AL is priced at 949 EUR and offers excellent value for money for ambitious leisure cyclists and those new to mountain biking.
