Cycling tours with the whole family can be exhausting - especially when the kids run out of energy on the way. This is where the Acid 240 Hybrid Rookie models come into play: the Pro 400X for €2199 and the €2599 SLX-400X model.
Both bikes are equipped with Bosch's Performance Line SX light drive with up to 55 Nm torque and enable speeds of up to 20 km/h. Battery capacity: 400 watt hours. If you want even more range, you can extend the battery by a further 250 watt hours with Bosch's Powermore range extender.
It's not just the motor that sounds promising: the HPA frame (High Performance Aluminium) is equipped with integrated cable routing, Boost rear triangle and UDH derailleur hanger - the same details as on the adult e-bikes. Also good for small children's hands: the handlebars with a diameter of just 19 millimetres and extra-short cranks. A SIC 2.0 pannier rack can be fitted on request, as well as a kickstand for safe parking anywhere. The 24-inch wheels harmonise the proportions of bike and child, while the suspension forks with 80 millimetres of travel absorb small bumps well.
The € 2599 Acid 240 Hybrid Rookie SLX 400X comes with powerful hydraulic Magura MT Thirty disc brakes, whose levers can be perfectly adjusted to suit small hands. There is also an easily adjustable air suspension fork (Suntour Raidon34 2CR Air). A retractable seat post and wide 2.35-inch Schwalbe Hans Dampf tyres ensure grip, control and confidence on technical terrain. The smooth Shimano Cues 11-speed gear system provides a wide gear range and an easy climbing gear for steep ramps. Weight: 18.2 kilos.
The € 2199 Acid 240 Hybrid Rookie Pro 400X also features a Suntour suspension fork with 80 mm travel. Due to the lower price point, only nine gears are available on this model and the high-quality Magura stoppers give way to hydraulic Shimano disc brakes. You also have to do without the telescopic seatpost. However, a flat-mount kickstand is included as standard and the total weight of just 17.4 kilos is lower than the more off-road capable top model.
With the Cube Acid 240 Hybrid Rookie, young riders get everything they need for their first real e-bike adventures: easy handling, child-friendly parts and extra power thanks to the Bosch motor. Whether the basic version Pro 400X (2199 euros) or the SLX 400X (2599 euros), which is more suitable for off-road use - both bikes make longer tours, trails and family outings a stress-free experience. Stable, safe and suitable for children, they promise riding fun for adolescents.
