The new helmets from Lazer, six in total, will be presented as part of the European Mobility Week (16 to 22 September). According to the manufacturer, two of them, the two urban helmets Maze Kineticore and Maze JR Kineticore, have been produced with ecological aspects in mind. Inspired by slim skate helmets, the two new models combine state-of-the-art technologies and safety features to create a trendy urban helmet for riding in the hustle and bustle of city centres.
The bicycle helmets feature Lazer's Kineticore technology, which is integrated directly into the helmet structure. It is an integrated rotational impact protection system that is based on the so-called "Controlled Crumple Zones" and serves as fixed construction elements. The result should be a high level of protection against shocks from various directions in the event of a fall. According to Lazer, Kineticore also enables reduced use of materials in production, improved ventilation, lower weight and reduced use of plastics.
More about Lazer KinetiCore technology:
The Maze Kineticore and Maze JR Kineticore bike helmets share a common design, but are available in different sizes and colours. Both models attach great importance to sustainability. Thanks to Lazer's patented Ecoloc system, they consist of interlocking parts that do not require glue. This adhesive-free construction allows the individual components to be easily separated and disposed of correctly at the end of the helmet's service life.
Both helmets are certified according to the ASTM standard, which offers more safety than many other helmet standards thanks to a deeper test line on the sides and back of the head. They also have discreet cut-outs that create space for (sunglasses) temples.
The Lazer Maze Kineticore is available in sizes S-M (50-56 cm) and M-L (54-61 cm). The helmets are designed in subtle pastel colours, which are achieved by injecting the paint directly into the helmet shell material. This process is more environmentally friendly than applying paint and also makes the colours more scratch-resistant. The logos are embossed, so no additional stickers are required.
The Maze JR Kineticore from Lazer is available in sizes S-M (50-56 cm) and comes in five vibrant colours especially for children and young people aged 8 to 15. As with the Maze Kineticore, the colours are applied directly to the material of the helmet shell. The scope of delivery also includes a sticker set that allows young users to personalise the helmet.
The Lupo Kineticore and the Finch Kineticore are two entry-level helmets that have been developed for real trail riding, according to Lazer. Both models are designed to combine comfort, style and advanced MTB-specific features: they have an integrated visor and are available in one size. The Finch KinetiCore is specially designed for smaller head sizes to avoid a bulky look or uncomfortable feel.
Both helmets offer ventilation openings and a shape that is pulled far down at the sides for better protection. The Lazer Turnsys adjustment system makes it easy to customise the fit, and both models are compatible with the Lazer universal LED light and winter kit, which is available as an option.
The Lazer Lupo Kineticore is available in a unisize size for heads from 55-61 cm circumference in five colours, while the Finch Kineticore is suitable for head circumferences from 50-56 cm and is available in six colours. The Lupo weighs 390 grams, while the Finch is 60 grams lighter.
For those looking for exciting descents, Lazer offers the Chase KinetiCore, a helmet specially developed for downhill riding with a 5-star rating for protection from Virginia Tech.
An important feature of the Chase KinetiCore is the breakaway visor, which is designed to detach from the helmet in the event of a fall and thus provide additional protection for the neck, as the helmet - and therefore the head - is not twisted. Thick padding also offers a secure and comfortable fit. The helmet weighs 990 grams in size M. It is available in three colours and five sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL).
The Lazer Cerro Kineticore is designed to combine the best of both worlds and offer good protection both on tarmac and off-road. The gravel bike helmet has a "goggle garage" that allows sunglasses to be stowed away safely.
The helmet can be closed with a simple magnetic fastener. The Cerro from Lazer also has a discreet visor and an insect net. The Cerro Kineticore is available in three colours and sizes (S, M, L) (>> z. e.g. here) and weighs just 270 grams (size M). A special "Shimano Edition" will also be available in Germany from December.
More about helmets and safety:
All helmets sold must be certified to confirm that they fulfil the minimum safety requirements. However, two certified helmets may provide different levels of protection against impact damage. Virginia Tech's independent helmet test lab objectively evaluates helmets and helps cyclists make informed purchasing decisions. The ratings show which helmets best reduce the risk of concussion. The more stars a helmet receives, the better the protection: five stars indicate the best helmets available.
The Lazer Maze Kineticore and the Maze JR Kineticore are both available at a price of 39.95 euros. The two models Lazer Lupo and Finch cost 69.95 euros. The Chase Kineticore is priced at 199.95 euros and the Cerro Kineticore at 99.95 euros. The bicycle helmets are now available in stores.
