Lazer presents helmets with the new KinetiCore safety technology. Controlled crumple zones dampen rotational forces that are dangerous to the brain.

KinetiCore technology was developed to reduce rotational energy in the event of a fall. In years of research and development work, various fall scenarios were simulated on the computer. This resulted in countless prototypes. As a result, Lazer presents bicycle helmets with controlled crumple zones that reduce the impact energy.

With the system integrated into the helmet, Lazer claims to have found an optimum balance between protection and overall performance. Other systems come with compromises in terms of ventilation, weight and cost.

Controlled crumple zones in the bicycle helmet

KinetiCore technology consists of so-called controlled crumple zones, similar to those used in the automotive industry. The crumple zone of the helmets is formed by cone-shaped EPS foam blocks located on the inside of the helmet. The individual elements are designed to give way or break in the event of an impact. As a result, the energy generated during a fall is diverted away from the head.

Protection and comfort

The airy design on the inside, in combination with the ventilation openings, leads to good ventilation and therefore more comfort. According to the manufacturer, the realisation of the idea of crumple zones has another positive effect: less material is used, so fewer resources are consumed. At the same time, less material also means a lower overall weight of the helmet.

New helmets with KinetiCore technology

The new technology is presented in selected new Lazer helmet models. In the urban range, there is a helmet for adults, one for small children travelling in a trailer or child seat and one for children who are already riding themselves. The front ventilation openings of the children's helmets are each equipped with a net to prevent insects from entering the helmet.
