It has long been recognised that female mountain bikers benefit from bikes that are specially tailored to their needs. When Giant, the largest bike manufacturer in the world, launched the Liv Cycling launched an extra brand for women's bikes was a clear signal to the industry. Now the Taiwanese are expanding their portfolio with the Intrigue LT series, a full suspension mountain bike for women. All-Mountain- and enduro use and show that challenging trail descents have long since ceased to be a purely male niche in the bike scene. That's a good thing!
The development of the new Liv model focussed on three central objectives. On the basis of the regular Intrigue model the "Long Travel" version should of course offer more suspension travel. In addition, an optimised and adaptable geometry should enable tougher and more versatile use. Last but not least, the new Intrigue LT frame made of lightweight, high-quality aluminium offers a new solution for integrating a storage compartment into the down tube.
The new LIV Intrigue LT offers ten millimetres more suspension travel at the front and rear than the regular Liv Intrigue series. With 160 millimetres on the suspension fork and 150 millimetres on the shock absorber, the LT version is the bike with the longest suspension travel among the Liv mountain bikes and is positioned as a women's bike for challenging trails, enduro tracks and Bike parks. A special shock tune "by women for women" is designed to ensure that female riders can make optimum use of the full travel. Both model variants of the Intrigue LT rely on a Fox Float DPS Performance air shock on the rear triangle. As you would expect from Liv Bikes and familiar from the Intrigue model range, the LT version relies on a Maestro rear suspension system in the latest configuration level 3.
A flip chip for geometry adjustment is integrated into the upper rocker arm of the new Liv Intrigue LT enduro bike. This can be used to adjust the geometry in order to optimally customise the bottom bracket height, seat angle and steering angle for the respective area of use. In the high setting, Liv promises a particularly agile riding behaviour, while the low position of the flip chip is intended to ensure a geometry that generates more stability on fast descents. If you want balanced riding characteristics from your Liv Intrigue LT, you should find a mix of manoeuvrability and stability in the medium geometry setting.
The M and L frame sizes of the new Intrigue LT mountain bike are fitted with 29-inch wheels ex works. However, the frame also accepts the smaller 27.5 inch wheel on the rear wheel to create a mullet setup with more agility. In frame sizes S and XS, the new Liv mountain bike comes ex works as a mullet bike with a wheel mix and combines the good rollover characteristics of a large 29-inch front wheel with the manoeuvrability of a 27.5-inch rear wheel for smaller riders.
Liv is offering its new all-mountain bike in two equipment variants and two colours each, as well as in four sizes. The bikes should be available from the end of February 2023. The top model Intrigue LT 1 for € 3999 comes with a 160 millimetre Fox 36 Performance suspension fork with Grip damping and Shimano SLX gears. In contrast, Liv relies on a Rockshox 35 Gold RL fork with 160 millimetres of travel and a Sram SX Eagle drivetrain on the Intrigue LT 2 for € 3399. Both equipment variants come with four-piston disc brakes from Tektro and add-on parts from Giant, such as the all-mountain wheels with a rim width of 30 millimetres and adjustable telescopic seat posts with an adjustment range of 100 to 150 millimetres, depending on the frame size.
