No bike in the YT Industries model range is more versatile than the Izzo. With the Presentation in spring 2020 the 130-millimetre fully made a name for itself for the first time as a sporty trail bike. One year later, the Forchheim-based company pushed the Blaze model of the Izzo behind. With one centimetre more travel, it provides more aggressive riders with slightly more reserves downhill. For the coming season, YT is expanding the line-up in exactly the opposite direction and is launching the Izzo Uncaged 7, a model for the race and marathon faction. The gravity specialists are thus entering completely new territory: YT has never before produced a bike that focusses on maximum propulsion rather than downhill fun.
120 millimetres of travel. 29-inch wheels. Full carbon frame. Limited to 300 units, the Izzo Uncaged 7 is right in line with modern down-country mountain bikes. The speedster takes its frame from its longer-travel colleagues. The engineers achieve the shorter suspension travel by shortening the shock stroke. Despite its more stable design, the bike performs well on the scales. High-quality carbon wheels from DT Swiss and Sram's high-end AXS XX1 electric drivetrain reduce the weight to 11.4 kilos according to the manufacturer. The lightweight Rockshox suspension consisting of SID Ultimate fork and SID Luxe shock also contributes to the slim figure. By way of comparison, the 130 cc top model weighs in at 12.35 kilos. The long reach (475 mm, size L), combined with the 77.5 seat angle, places the rider in a propulsion-orientated position on the bike - just as a sporty down-country bike should be. The Izzo is only available in a flashy Laser Yellow paint finish for 6999 euros.
