Focus Jam: from trail bike to mini enduro
More suspension travel, geometry update and a fair price - the new Focus Jam is particularly suitable for price-conscious and downhill-orientated trail bikers.

The Jam is an old acquaintance in the Focus MTB model range. In 2017, the Jam as a playful trail bike with 140 millimetres of travel, 27.5-inch wheels and short geometry for the first time in the Stuttgart-based company's portfolio (development headquarters). But with the old Jam, the new 2021 mountain bike from Focus have little in common. It has become more of a mini enduro.

Focus Jam with revised aluminium frame

The most obvious change is the completely new aluminium frame. Focus continues to rely on its Fold kinematics like in the old Jambut now places the shock horizontally under the top tube. This means that there is space for a large water bottle in all frame sizes. But even compared to its direct predecessor, which was also available in 29 inches, much more has changed than just the design: with the increased suspension travel of 150 millimetres, 29-inch wheels and a more downhill-oriented and significantly longer geometry, Jam riders are now even more focused on the downhill vertical.

Longer and flatter: the geometry of the Focus Jam

However, the long and flat geometry with a 480 to 485 millimetre reach (size L) and 65 degree steering angle is not set in stone. If you like it a little steeper and more agile, you can adjust the steering and seat angle by half a degree using a flip chip. At 435 millimetres, the chainstays are moderately average.
