On 19 September, there will be plenty of reason to celebrate in Saalfeld in Thuringia's Saaleland: the fairy trails will be opened on the Gartenkuppe, above the fairy grottoes. Five extremely winding forest trails, along the course of which even downhill rider Nina Hoffmann was on hand to offer advice. The dedicated locals from the newly founded IG Thüringer Meer were responsible for shovelling the trails. Info: fairy-bike-marathon.com
The Schaeffler MTB Arena in the Black Forest has undertaken a far-reaching reshape of its trails. The existing trail sections have been combined to create one of the longest trails in Germany. The centrepiece is now called the "Statera Black Forest Trail". For six kilometres, the trail winds its way down from the 1164-metre-high Hornisgrinde and impresses with an enduro mix of flow, airtime and technical passages. Particularly cool: after the steep paragliding slope with a view, Suicide Rock has been lurking since 2023. A rock slide with a rock edge that is better not to get stuck on! Four new bike park lines in the main Alpine ridge of the Silvretta: Galtür opened its "Bike Trailpark Silva Trails" in July. Less than ten kilometres south-west of the more challenging descents in Ischgl, families and beginners in particular should have fun here: Two flow trail descents that start at an altitude of 1970 metres, a pump track at Siggi's Base and a jump line for children.
Also exciting, but currently still under construction and probably not ready until the 2025 season: an - attention: E-MTB riding skills measuring station. In future, you will ride through an indoor course with several obstacles and be filmed in the process. Specially created software will then calculate which trail difficulty levels you are capable of with your riding technique skills. The need for this was recognised in Ischgl and Galtür, as mountain rescuers are having to be called out more and more frequently to retrieve e-mountain bikers from the trail descents. Two new, kilometre-long trails have enriched the bike park on the Brenta since the end of June: the Interstellar (1.3 km) starts at the very top of the Cima Paganella (2125 m) and winds its way down the mountain flanks in pump track style in front of an incredible panorama. It then continues seamlessly into the 2.1 kilometre Supernatural to the middle station of the cable car. dolomitipaganellabike.com

In future, they will be narrow, yet beginner- and family-friendly, and will connect one bike park with the next. Just finished and released: 20 kilometres around Heringhausen between Diemelsee and Dommelturm. Info: diemelsee.de
