As part of the Glemmride Bike Festival from 9-13 July, the new 12er Sky Line was opened in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. This expands the infrastructure in the bike park with a very fun, curve-intensive flow trail of 6.5 kilometres in length and a practice course at the middle station of the Zwölferkogel cable car. New terrain for beginners and all those who want to try out the otherwise rather challenging descents in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm bike park.
And that's what a lot of young riders wanted to do last weekend, because their YouTube star Fabio Wibmer travelled to the festival and the opening of the trail. He not only rode impressively and with style, but of course also gave riding technique tips and signed autographs.
The 12er Sky-Line was built by the local trail construction company Shape Syndicate on the slope where the Alpine World Ski Championships were held in February of this year. As soon as the snow had melted, Roland Hofer and his Shape Syndicate team started the excavation work at the summit of the Zwölferkogel. The task was to create a beginner and family programme up to panoramic heights.
And this seems to have been a success, as the management of Hinterglemm Bergbahnen expressed their satisfaction at the opening: "We are setting another milestone with the new 12-person Sky Line. The new bike route combines sporting adventure with breathtaking views and perfectly complements our existing trail offer - a big thank you to everyone involved, especially the landowners who share this vision with us!"
The 12er Sky Line starts in the upper section of the Zwölferkogel - with super views over the Glemmtal valley and the Kitzbühel Alps. With berms, the trail keeps bikers on track at the start and small jumps allow you to get your first taste of airtime before you then hurtle downhill.
The new "12er Learn to Ride Area" at the middle station of the 12er Kogelahn also fits in with the beginner offer. A practice course with 5 different lines equipped with various elements, curves and surfaces. Here you can warm up step-by-step for the big runs in the Saalbach bike park.
Attention: The new trail is now part of "THE CHALLENGE". A challenge that is primarily aimed at experienced downhill riders. Who can ride the entire area around Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Austria's largest bike region, in one day?
You decide where to start "THE CHALLENGE - Bike your limit". The only important thing is that the mountain railways listed in the suggested route are used with one and the same bike ticket. And, of course, you must have registered for the competition in advance.
If you actually complete the round in one day, you receive a personal QR code with which you can collect a water bottle as your first reward at the main ticket offices of the cable cars. You will also be entered into a lottery pot from which the main winners will be drawn at the end of the season. The prizes:
Locations: Kohlmaisbahn, Schattberg X-press, 12er Kogelbahn, Reiterkogelbahn, Asitzbahn, Steinbergbahn and Streubödenbahn.
