More than just a stylish tubeless repair kit: the Switchblade tool from Sahmurai combines seven functions in a compact, 44 gram mini tool.

With its Sahmurai S.W.O.R.D Tubeless Repair Kits ex-racer Stefan Sahm has made a name for himself. Now the three-time Cape Epic winner is launching a smart tool on the market to help bikers out of various punctures on tour. The tool was developed to offer more than just a repair kit for tubeless tyres and to replace additional mini-tools in the jersey or saddle bag. The Sahmurai Switchblade is manufactured in South Africa, consists of two halves that can be clipped together and offers a total of seven functions. For comparison: classic mini-tools, such as those we find in the last minitool test offer 11-30 functions including many Allen and Torx spanners, but are also significantly heavier than the 44 gram Sahmurai tool.

The Sahmurai Switchblade offers these 7 functions

  • Set of tyre levers
  • File and fork (insertion aid for patches)
  • Space for patch rubber strips (plugs)
  • Chain handling tool
  • Storage box for a spare chain lock
  • Chain lock opener
  • Bottle opener
The tool allows you to remove the oily chain from the drivetrain or thread it back onto the chainring without getting your hands dirty.Photo: Hersteller The tool allows you to remove the oily chain from the drivetrain or thread it back onto the chainring without getting your hands dirty. Ideally, the fork in the tool should already be fitted with a "sausage". The 11.5 x 4.5 centimetre tool also fits into compact saddlebags.
