Saalfelden Leogang will once again host the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships from 30 August to 3 September 2028. This was recently announced by the International Cycling Union (UCI) at the UCI Congress on the sidelines of the Road World Championships in Wollongong, Australia, is known. We can also draw on a wealth of experience as an organiser and have shown that we are a reliable partner."
Organiser Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of Leoganger Bergbahnen, adds: "After a spectator-less World Championships in 2020, we are eager to host a perfect World Championships for fans, athletes and teams again in 2028."
For the second time now, downhill star and reigning world champion Valentina Höll via a Home World Championships at Leogan Bike Parkg: "I'm incredibly pleased that Leogang has been awarded the 2028 World Championships. There will certainly be a lot of changes for us bikers in terms of infrastructure and I'm really looking forward to it. In six years' time, I'll be 26 years old and the perfect downhill age. Hopefully by then I'll be able to enjoy a downhill race at home. Run without a fall get it down. I'm really looking forward to it."
In addition to the decisions on the rainbow jerseys for 2028, the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will also stop in Leogang for the next two years. The date for the MTB World Cup 2023 in Leogang has already been decided: for the first time, the Austrian bike region will be hosting a "super event" of the newly organised Mountain Bike World Cups will be held. In addition to the downhill and cross-country competitions, the Enduro bikers of the Enduro World Series will also determine their World Cup winners in the Bikepark Leogang and in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
