Anyone who deals with long distances and topics such as endurance and mindset in the saddle will inevitably come across Christoph Strasser. He has won the Race Across America, which is well over 5,000 kilometres long, more than once, holds perhaps a third of all long-distance records and benchmarks, and his bikes have touched every rideable road and path on earth.
He records his podcast "Sitzfleisch" together with his mentor and friend Florian Kraschitzer, and of course it's all about endurance. However, it is not so much fitness and training that play a role, but rather the mind, the attitude and the world of thought within such ultra distances. Guests often bring other accents and disciplines into play, and catering, body care and equipment always play a role, but it is almost always about extremes, even in the travelogues.
It's nothing to copy one-to-one and use for yourself, but you can learn a lot from such - pardon the pun - "iron skulls". You have to get used to the strong Austrian dialect, but then you enjoy following the voices and the two protagonists pass the ball to each other really well. The 204 episodes so far are entertaining, with some of them consisting of three episodes of 50 minutes each - that can be a long time. You can find them on the usual streaming sites or on: christophstrasser.at
We particularly like the depth of the conversations on the topic of extreme sports. The podcast is entertaining, but the variety of topics could be greater. If you find extreme sports exciting, you've come to the right place.
