In the behind-the-scenes video now published for his Campus clip, Danny MacAskill gives an insight behind the scenes: How is a move created? What happens after the landing? And why is the Scotsman trialling over the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach in the first place? He also says the following about the last question:
When I first got the invitation to campus, I immediately started exploring the place in my head. Driving over all the rooftops, driving along all the railings, you know, it's a really interesting place. Not everyone can go there! As soon as you see a big overhanging piece of architecture like that or whatever, you immediately visualise the different things you could do up there. So it was cool to finally get up here to actually do it. - Danny MacAskill, adidas Five Ten athlete
Danny MacAskill is also sponsored by Five Ten, an Adidas brand - the new Five Ten Freerider Pro BOA shoes therefore already appear in the video, but will only be launched on the market at some point soon.
In the new video, we also find out which trick pushed him to his limits and which one he managed surprisingly quickly. Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden also makes a brief visit and highlights what sets Mr Danny apart from most other Adidas athletes.
During the production of his projects, Danny attaches great importance to his well-rehearsed and trusted team of 8 people. Robbie Meade and his team also have their say in the behind-the-scenes segment. It becomes clear that, for example, when a scene is shot at a dizzying height, those behind the camera are sometimes more nervous and tense than Danny himself.
Campus is one of the most fun projects we've ever done and it was a very enjoyable atmosphere to work in, especially when Danny had to prepare for some of the bigger stunts in the film, such as the massive drop to flat. I've never seen him drop that high before, and I'd be lying if I wasn't worried about his body and his bike, but as always, he pulled it off. - Dave Mackison, photographer
The result of the shoot on the Adidas company premises in Herzogenaurach, "Campus", a four-minute street trial video is once again of the highest calibre. It was released in October 2024 - here it is again for you to watch!
