Danny MacAskill (38) is perhaps the most famous cyclist in the world - alongside Tour de France heroes such as Lance Armstrong, Eddie Merckx and Jan Ullrich. And unlike many racing bike celebrities, Danny is one of the scene's biggest fans. The Scotsman was working as a bike mechanic in a bike shop when he became a superstar virtually overnight with a YouTube clip in 2009.

Danny MacAskill became a superstar virtually overnight with a YouTube video in 2009. The short film shows stunts on the trial bike such as a balancing ride over an iron fence, drops from a telephone box, jumps into the underground shaft and "dance interludes" where Danny rolls through the city on the front wheel with wild spins.

The clip was directed by Danny's flatmate Dave Sowerby. Dave's way of showing the stunt three times from different perspectives has since been copied many times by other filmmakers, but has never really been equalled in terms of clicks. This is because Danny MacAskill's web films - whether on a mountain bike, trial bike or e-bike - reach an audience of millions. Only the Austrian Fabio Wibmer comes close to Danny's click figures.

For his latest clip (released on 5 October), the "artistic gymnast" cruises through the Adidas site in Herzogenaurach on his trial bike. The extravagant architecture provides just the right backdrop for Danny's tricks, not to mention the fact that Danny's shoe sponsor Five Ten is part of the Adidas Group. This may give the clip a slight "flavour", but we think that's acceptable: It's manageable. We've already seen the Sneek preview and say: definitely watch it, it's got some real banger moves!

Danny MacAskill's "Says What" statements

It really annoys me that I'm constantly swiping around on my mobile phone. What a time sink, even though most of the stuff I look at is total rubbish.
Unfortunately, I'm not a water person. That's why I'd love to swap places with Waterman Kai Lenny for a day. What this guy does is crazy!
My last rubbish purchase? I don't even want to think about that. A house! I really let myself get taken for a ride.
I almost only wear black. That may be a bit unimaginative, I know, but it's also wonderfully uncomplicated.
I can't do tabletop and barspin. Yes, really! Barspin isn't that bad, I think. But I really should learn tabletop.
I would like to learn kitesurfing. My brother is a very good kitesurfer. He makes it look so cool. I've been meaning to do it for a long time, but somehow I never get round to it.
I also suffer from FOMO - The Fear of Missing Out. I always want to be where things are happening!

The sickest stunt I've ever seen? When Tom van Steenbergen did a front flip down the cliff at the Rampage. Wow!
I can always laugh at the film Happy Gillmore. Who can't?
My last holiday was in Morzine. At last, it was just me on the bike again. It has to be.
Regret is a pretty pointless emotion. That's why I try not to regret anything, but to look ahead.
When I watch World Cup DH, I keep my fingers crossed for Nina Hoffmann, Greg Williamson and Henri Kerr.
I always have my headphones on. That's my firewall. I can't do anything without music.
I'm happy to spend one. I don't have to pay for my hobbies anyway, so I can be generous in the bar with my friends.
I'm easy to make laugh. I actually laugh all the time and at all kinds of rubbish. But with my buddies in Scotland, that's beyond anything - that's a 10/10.
My procrastination has to stop. It's really bad! I have good ideas and give others good advice, but I get stuck myself and get completely bogged down. Help!!!!!
