What previously seemed unattainable for bikers, the Scot realised in an impressive way. With his Youtube clip published in 2009 "Inspired" ( around 40 million clicks), Danny captivated a huge audience that previously showed little interest in biking. Danny showcases his skills in everyday environments that everyone knows. He dares to jump off bridges, performs tricks on telephone boxes, crosses barriers and balances on a rolling bale of straw. In each of his videos, Danny sets new standards and redefines the boundaries. His unlimited ability, perfectionism and creative ideas make him one of the most innovative minds in the bike scene. Danny is also super likeable and down to earth.
With around 42 million clicks the web video "Danny`s Wee Day Out" has only just made it to number 5 of the most clicked videos by Danny MacAskill. Here Danny shows once again that he can not only set new standards on the trial bike. Here Danny jumps, hops, flips and slides through Scotland on his Santa Cruz 5010 trail bike in this almost 7-minute clip. Our top 3 stunts in the web video are: 1. the rail jump right at the beginning (minute 0:40 min), 2. the ride on the straw bale (minute 1:27). Here Danny revealed that he was almost desperate, that's how often he failed at this stunt. 3. the stylish tree trunk slide (minute 1:39). In our eyes, the video deserves a lot more clicks.
Danny's "Way Back Home" from 2010 was just under 44 million clicks. No wonder, as it was the first major video production after his first click hit and Fame Maker video "Inspired". Now everyone was excited to see if Danny could go one better. And yes, he did. Again on his trial bike. Here Danny is already hopping, balancing and whirling around his home country of Scotland with the Red Bull helmet on his head. In an interview with FREERIDE, Danny said: "The music had a decisive influence on the success of the video" (Song: Loch Lomond "Wax and Wire" and The Jezabels "A Little Piece".) Length: Just under 8 minutes.
Danny gets on a mountain bike for the first time in one of his films and returns to his home, the Isle of Skye in Scotland. There he ventures on a daring ride along the infamous Cuillin Ridgeline. Why the video is so popular and has so far attracted more than 80 million clicks Danny himself can't really explain why he's so excited about this, he said in the FREERIDE interview. Perhaps it's because it's the first time he's climbed a Fully for a major video production. The breathtaking landscape will also have played a part in this click hit. In the video "The Ridge", Danny shows off his uphill skills, overcomes streams, hops from rock to rock and shows that he can do stunts on more than just a trial bike. Nevertheless, it's not just one mega trick after another - unlike his previous videos. However, there is one super stunt, namely in minute 6:10, when Danny deliberately gets his front wheel caught on a wire fence and catapults over it in a front flip. Super!
The video hit the web, but also polarised people. This time, Danny wasn't out in nature, but in a dream world of loops, toy blocks and oversized crayons. In minute 1:17, Danny shows his front flip stunt over the Pezziball for the first time. You've never seen that before. This stunt has since become an integral part of Danny's live shows and a real signature stunt. The video was over 93 million clicked once. Song: Houston - "Runaway". The edit was probably the most expensive production.
1st place for Danny's "Cascadia". Almost 115 million times this video was clicked. Crime scene: Gran Canaria, working tool: Danny's trial bike. Here, the Scotsman rides around the colourful rooftops of Las Palmas. In the interview, Danny said: "We went through the city, knocked on doors and asked if we could go on the roof." He flips from one roof to the next, balances on narrow walls at dizzying heights and the highlight is Danny's front flip into the Atlantic at minute 4:26. It hurts just to watch. The video was shot exclusively with the helmet camera (GoPro). Also worth seeing: The Behind the Scene Video.
