Christian Textor - Enduro World Cup biker: Texi's world: 7 moments from his life

Christian Textor (32) is Germany's fastest enduro racer. He has already won the German championship five times. In February, the former World Cup downhiller switched to the Franconian distributor YT. Scene insiders suspect that with his new Work tool "Texi" could be at the front of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike Enduro World Cup (EDR). We show what else makes Christian Textor the man he is. We started with the dirt jump.

Trickery instead of racing

Biking fascinates Christian Textor early on. He initially took a liking to the still young freeride movement. Stars like Timo Pritzel, Aaron Chase or John Cowan are among his idols. In 2010, a mate takes him to a downhill race. Texi was immediately hooked and wanted to become a racer - with success. Just two years later, he was competing in the Downhill World Cup.

Christian Textor marries his girlfriend Katrina in 2017. They have son Theo and daughter Elli - there are now five of them. Balancing professional life and family is not always easy. "I give my wife a lot of credit for taking all the weight off my shoulders when I'm racing," says Texi.

Texi's motto: Take it easy!

Texi reacts to stress with composure. He has driven many a motivated photographer up the wall at the breakfast buffet. Instead of taking photos at sunrise, he prefers to treat himself to a second coffee.

Enduro = just mountain biking!

In the mid-2010s, the idea of enduro racing was born. Textor signs up for a race out of curiosity and promptly joins the front runners. Pedalling the bike up the mountain and descending on angry tracks is something he knows from his home region, the Siegerland. "Basically, I've never done anything else, enduro is just mountain biking," says Texi.

Christian Textor draws strength from his religion

Texi's parents are devout Christians. He also draws strength from religion. "I believe that God wants to be part of a race. And that he is interested in me as a person," says Texi.

Boy, do an apprenticeship - Texi, the construction machinery nerd

Excavators and construction machinery have been part of Texi's life from the very beginning - thanks to the family business. He was already operating an excavator at the age of three. His skills benefit him today in road construction. Visiting the largest construction machinery trade fair Bauma with his son Theo is one of his annual highlights.

Before starting out as a bike racer, Christian Textor began training as a mechatronics engineer in 2007. Technical things suit him. After his apprenticeship, he worked in his father's civil engineering company and used the money to buy tyres, brake pads and fuel. Things he needs for the races at the weekend.

The dream of many racers: Texi has been a member of the YT Mob since February 2023 and has a free choice of components. "That's the team's philosophy and pure luxury," says Christian Textor, Germany's fastest enduro pro. But this privilege also has its disadvantages: "There is so much choice - you would basically need months to test and compare all the components," says Texi.

At the beginning of the year, the team in Finale Ligure focussed on the newly founded UCI World Cup season prepared. The choice of parts and components was made here.
