Video segments in the legenädren New World Dissorder film series have Timo Pritzel already a living legend during the noughties made. Together with American John Cowan, the Berlin native was the first to celebrate the extreme tricks and first-class style of the BMX scene on a mountain bike. While Hans Rey was still posing as the Statue of Liberty, Pritzel was one of the first bikers to perform flawless backflips over 10-15 metre jumps and thrilled the crowds. As a professional, the 43-year-old paved the way for later super-tricksters such as Brendon Semenuk and Brett Rheeder. After his active career as a professional MTB rider, Pritzel has remained loyal to the scene. He still lives in Berlin and gives yoga seminars there. Here is an excerpt from New World Disorder III - Freewheel Burning with Timo Pritzel from 2002:
Berlin-based Timo Pritzel came from BMX to bike sports, more specifically dirt biking and freeriding. In addition to German championship titles in the BMX race and MTB dirt disciplines, he has won events such as the dirt jump contest at the American Sea Otter Classics and the Joyride Jump Contest in Whistler, Canada. Timo came 2nd at the legendary Crankworx in 2004. After 15 years of extreme sports and being a professional, numerous injuries and misdiagnoses finally forced him to end his career. When he was not free of pain despite medication and conventional medicine, he looked for alternative healing methods. He began practising yoga in 2002, tried out many styles and finally completed his yoga training with the American yoga icon Ana Forrest. He also trained as a breath-body-energy therapist. Timo now offers courses at the BIKE Festival in Riva, and due to corona, online courses are now also in the works.
