Jumps, speed and rocky terrain: the new Lazer A-Line KinetiCore full-face helmet is designed to protect you where it hurts most. To achieve this, the Belgian brand has packed it full of every possible high-tech feature, yet the full-face helmet is incredibly light.

Faster, higher, harder – anyone pushing their limits in downhill, freeride or enduro needs a full-face helmet that can keep up. The new A-Line KinetiCore from Lazer weighs 790 grams (size M). That’s remarkably light. It features a carbon shell and has been certified to the ASTM downhill standard. Available from October.

Made for the moment that matters

The name says it all: A-Line. Lazer named the helmet after what is perhaps the world’s most famous park run, the Whistler A-Line in British Columbia. In other words: it’s designed to protect gravity riders. Because A-Line = airtime = danger = crashes. Sooner or later, it was bound to happen in our sport. In recent years, it has become clear that as bike technology improves, speeds are increasing dramatically. The Downhill World Cup is the best proof of this. Safety experts even advise park, downhill and enduro riders to wear motorcycle helmets – that is, full-face helmets – which have been certified to the strict motorcycle standard.

The crux of the matter is that greater safety also means greater weight.

Carbon fibre: lightweight and strong

The outer shell is made of carbon fibre. This reduces weight without compromising on strength. Weighing just 790 grams in size M – an impressive figure for a full-face helmet with ASTM downhill certification.

Inside, it features Lazer’s KinetiCore technology. Specially shaped EPS blocks absorb the energy of an impact – before it reaches the head.

New to the A-Line: DualCore technology. Two EPS layers of different densities work together. The softer inner layer reduces rotational forces, whilst the harder outer layer absorbs direct impacts. Clearly defined zones for maximum protection.

In short: the Lazer A-Line aims to strike a balance between weight and safety. The Belgian manufacturers have also equipped their helmet with all the desirable features, such as removable emergency cheek pads and a sturdy visor with a mount for an action cam. The lower edge of the helmet has been designed to protect the sensitive collarbone.

About Lazer

In 1919, Henri Van Lerberghe won the Tour of Flanders with a solo ride from start to finish. Before entering the Ghent Velodrome, he made a quick stop – for a few beers. On the podium, he advised the crowd to go home. After all, he had a half-day’s lead. Lazer was founded that same year. Back then, leather caps protected heads, and steel wheels rattled over Belgian cobblestones.

Lazer is a long-established Belgian helmet brand. Today, it is one of the oldest and best-known helmet manufacturers in the world. The company was founded in Belgium in 1919 and is based in Nivelles and Antwerp. Since 2016, the brand has been part of the Japanese bicycle components giant Shimano.
