Yeti Cycles is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special model: the SB160 Team Issue is being launched as a limited special edition. The American cult manufacturer is drawing on its proven enduro bike and equipping it with exquisite components. One highlight is certainly the new Fox Podium Upside-Down suspension fork. The anniversary model is intended to reflect Yeti's long-standing racing DNA while offering state-of-the-art technology.
The centrepiece of the SB160 Team Issue is a frame made from TURQ Series carbon. Yeti relies on a rear triangle with 160 millimetres of travel, which is controlled via the company's own Switch Infinity System. The geometry is based on the regular SB160 and is designed for aggressive riding. With a steering angle of 64 degrees and a seat angle of 77.5 degrees, the bike is positioned in the area of modern enduro geometries. Depending on the size, the chainstays grow from 437 millimetres in size S to 443 millimetres in XL. Yeti offers the anniversary model in four frame sizes from S to XL, which should cover riders from 155 to 200 centimetres tall.
Yeti has opted for the best of the best when choosing components. The suspension elements come from FOX, with a Factory Podium fork with 170 millimetres of travel at the front. At the rear is a FOX Factory DHX Neo shock with SLS spring. Shimano's electronic XTR Di2 system is used for the gears. The brakes are also from the XTR series and have 203-millimetre discs front and rear. The wheelset is custom-made by DT Swiss based on the EX1700 with a 30 millimetre rim width.
Yeti attaches great importance to special details on the anniversary model. For example, a special Chris King headset in the colour 3D Violet is used. The cockpit area is dominated by Burgtec components, including a 780 millimetre wide handlebar and a 50 millimetre stem. The saddle also comes from Burgtec and is labelled Cloud MK2 Team Issue. Cushcore inserts in the tyres provide additional puncture protection as standard. This naturally increases the weight. Yeti speaks of 17 kilos for the complete bike without pedals. The tyres themselves consist of a Maxxis Assegai at the front and a Minion DHR II on the rear wheel, both in the grippy MaxxGrip compound.
The Yeti SB160 Team Issue will be produced as a strictly limited edition. This gem will cost a hefty 13,900 euros and will also be available in homeopathic doses in Germany. With this price, the anniversary model is clearly positioned in the high-end segment and is aimed at enthusiastic Yeti fans and collectors.
