We honoured the Decoy twice as the EMTB test winner in the Enduro category, you have made it to the EMTB of the year 2020 among the E-Enduros. Hardly any other e-MTB has ever been as successful at its debut as the debut model from the Forchheim-based supplier. The only point of criticism: the motor. Last year, the Shimano E8000 was already losing ground to the competition from Bosch and Brose - the competition upgraded to the new EP8 earlier.
This is exactly where YT has now stepped up and given the Decoy the Shimano EP8 a drive system at the cutting edge. The new Shimano motor is more powerful and lighter than its predecessor and can also be fully customised to the rider's preferences. This should also breathe new life into the Decoy on the climbs. However, the familiar in-house battery with 540 watt hours remains. So don't expect the new Decoy to deliver any miracles of altitude.
As before, the Decoy will be available in two versions. The MX version is the enduro version with 170/165 millimetres of suspension travel and should be somewhat more manoeuvrable thanks to the small rear wheel. The 29er is designed as an all-mountain and offers slightly less travel at 150/145 millimetres, but should climb more confidently thanks to the larger rear wheel and longer chainstays.
In addition to the new motor, the model range has also been revised. As with other models, YT has put the old Base/Pro/Pro Race logic to bed and now offers the new Decoy in three equipment versions from Core 2 to Core 4 (top model). However, the price starts at 5299 euros for the Core 2 29-inch Decoy and 5799 euros for the Core 2 MX. This means that you won't find a variant with decent equipment at the low price typical of mail order bikes.
