Superduel Enduros: Rocky Mtn. Altitude vs. Trek Slash
The two brand new race enduro bikes Rocky Mountain Altitude and Trek Slash are like twins in their requirements and yet at the end of the test duel they are fundamentally different.

Corona has put the brakes on everything. Public life, events of all kinds and, of course, most races with international participation. But just in time for the late start of the EWS in Zermatt, the bike manufacturers were also ready with new enduro models. While the traditional Canadian brand Rocky Mountain presented the new Altitude with more suspension travel than ever before, the US giant Trek followed with its latest version of the Slash. With Jesse Melamed behind the handlebars, the new Altitude has already scored its first victory in the EWS and proven its potential as a race enduro bike. However, Florian Nicolai also cut a fine figure on the new Slash despite the difficult conditions and finished in 13th place, just 36 seconds behind.

With the Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 90 Rally Edition we received the second most expensive version of the new carbon enduro bike. A hefty 9900 euros are on the price tag of the Canadian. For this, you get Fox Factory suspension and the complete Shimano XTR package, from the gears to the cranks and brakes. However, you won't find carbon rims on the Rocky for this price. These are only available in the top version, which is in the good five-figure range (11500 euros) with electronic shifting.

The second most expensive Trek Slash almost seems like a bargain. At 5848 euros, the Slash 9.8 costs a good 4000 euros less! Nevertheless, the Trek, which also comes with a high-quality full carbon frame, is not a budget bike.

So both new enduro bikes have potential for 2021, so let's get them into our test duel!

You can download the complete test duel "Rocky Mountain Altitude C90 Rally Edition vs Trek Slash 9.8" from BIKE 11/20 as a PDF below the article. The test costs 1.49 euros.

Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in BIKE. We don't charge for them, but the opposite is the case: we do charge for them - tens of thousands of euros every year.
