Nox: New power e-bikes on the way
More torque, more speed: Nox wants to outdo its Brose e-MTBs with the new hybrid line with Sachs RS motor. The Berlin-Zillertal-Connection presents four new power bikes with 112 Nm.

Broses Drive SMag is regarded as a real powerhouse with powerful pulling power in low cadences. However, when it comes to power and torque, the the new Sachs RS drive the popular electric motor. We can say this much in advance. The Sachs unit promises 112 Newton metres of torque. We have already been able to convince ourselves that these are not empty words in an extensive laboratory and practical test. But more on that later. Until now, the new motor has hardly been available in any E-MTB, but that is about to change. In future, Nox will be offering its hybrid series with both Brose and Sachs motors. In future, four new models with Sachs RS will be available to e-bikers looking for full power. Two hardtails, an all-mountain and an enduro fully.

Nox Hybrid All-Mountain

160 millimetres of suspension travel at the front, 150 at the rear, a choice of 27.5 or 29 inches, solid components and modern geometry. With these key data, the Hybrid All Mountain from Nox has made a name for itself as an off-road all-rounder. In its latest edition, the bike can be transformed into a power e-bike with Sachs drive on request.

Bike and motor: The detailed test

At 25.8 kilos, the newcomer is not in the category of lightweight trail bikes, that much is clear. Compared to a real Power bike à la Haibike Flyon or M1 Spitzing with TQ drive, the Nox is even lighter. So where does the Bolide fit in? We can say one thing in advance: Both our extensive test bench test in the EMTB lab and our detailed practical tests confirm that the Sachs RS has a maximum power and torque clearly above the Bosch league.

The Sachs RS clearly leaves a Performance CX, an E8000 and a Drive SMag behind on steep climbs. The comparison with the powerful TQ unit is obvious. And that's exactly what we did. Because maximum power isn't everything. How can the two powerhouses be modulated? What about derating and range?
