The German bike manufacturer is launching new mountain bike models. Cube Bikes into the 2023 model year and is renovating its MTB full-suspension range from the trail bike to the enduro MTB category. Visually, all four new Stereo ONE mountain bikes bear the same signature and are based on lightweight carbon frames with four-link kinematics. Only the Stereo ONE77 enduro bike presented here is still available in Two mountain bike models with aluminium frames. Unlike the current Stereo ONE22, the new Cube mountain bikes for 2023 do not have a top tube that splits in two towards the seat tube. Instead, the model names ONE44, ONE55 and ONE77 fit perfectly into the MTB range of the Upper Palatinate company. However, the exact suspension travel of the bikes cannot be deduced from this.
Last season, Cube presented the Stereo ONE77, a new enduro platform that is positioned above the Stereo 150 and has correspondingly more suspension travel. So far, however, there have only been two models with aluminium frames for 3199 and 3799 euros. With the addition of the C:68X, Cube is now supplementing its two aluminium enduro bikes with three new carbon models. Like its aluminium counterpart, the Stereo ONE77 C:68X offers 170 millimetres of travel at the front and 160 millimetres at the rear.
Despite the use of carbon, enduro mountain bikers will have to do without a one-piece carbon handlebar/stem unit and a storage compartment in the down tube as on the Stereo ONE44 and ONE55. When developing the frame, maximum stability in tough enduro use and a manageable frame weight were the top priorities. The Stereo ONE77 can be ridden with steel or air shocks thanks to different mounts.
With a reach of 470 millimetres in size L, the reach of the new carbon enduro bike is rather moderate. This means that the Cube ONE77 forgoes the classic race virtues and should be intuitive and easy to ride straight away. A steering angle of 63.8 to 64.4 degrees nevertheless ensures a sufficiently smooth ride. At 435 millimetres, the chainstays are very short, which indicates playful handling.
For all three carbon models of the new Stereo ONE77 C:68X, the total weight has by no means been ignored. Cube specifies weights of 14.2 to 15.1 kilos. This means that the new enduro bike undercuts many of the competition's bikes in the same suspension travel range. The slim appearance is made possible by a very light carbon frame, which is well under the three-kilo mark. The built-in wheels also weigh little and ensure a sporty acceleration.
