The YT Capra has been a firm favourite in the enduro segment since 2014 and has already had a few model cycles under its belt. The last update was in May 2021 and bears the name MK3.
Three years ago, the geometry was updated and the typical silhouette with the asymmetrical bridge on the main frame was refined. The Capra is currently being ridden by German champion Christian Textor in the Enduro World Cup on the world's most exciting trails. A quick look at our geometry data measured in the test lab reveals that three years since the last update is a long time. The shortest reach, shortest wheelbase and slackest seat angle label the Capra MK3 as an old-schooler and fuel the desire for an MK4. But numbers alone are only half the battle.
Our verdict on the YT Capra Uncaged 10 CF: Even in its fourth model year, the YT Capra Uncaged remains competitive and fun to ride. Nevertheless, the bike has gathered dust in some places.
The Giant Reign already has a long tradition and is something of a permanent guest in our enduro tests. No wonder: a look at the homepage of the Taiwanese bike giant reveals that there are twelve different models of this perennial favourite.
Incidentally, the Reign currently starts at a slim 2799 euros. Our test bike with the identifier 1 V2 is the latest aluminium version for 3999 euros. As already known from the carbon frames, the aluminium version now also has a storage compartment in the down tube. This creates space for the most important utensils and scores points in our usability rating. In addition, the geometry can be adjusted threefold at the rear rocker mount and fine-tuned to the rider's needs.
Our verdict on the Giant Reign 1 V2: The Giant Reign takes the test victory due to the best downhill and uphill handling. In terms of suspension, there are stronger enduro bikes.
With the Ibis HD6, a true enduro bike finally takes the place of the longest-travel bike in the Californian brand's model range. We put the mixture of 180 millimetres of travel on the fork, Mullet tyres and the DW-Link rear triangle to the test in our individual BIKE test.
After this unusually long product cycle, the HD6 and its predecessor have little more in common than the Ibis logo on the head tube. The developers have also pulled out all the stops to adapt the newcomer to all the requirements of a modern enduro bike. The suspension travel on the fork has been increased from 170 to 180 millimetres. At the rear, the engineers have increased the suspension travel from 158 to 165 millimetres. The 27.5-inch wheels also make way for a wheel size mix with 29ers on the front wheel and 27.5 inches on the rear wheel. The Californians have also thrown the typical Ibis design language with its two-part main frame and curved top tube overboard. Instead, the design is now characterised by straight lines and sharp edges. The only remnant of the traditional Ibis gene pool: The rear suspension system with DW-Link linkage, which couples the closed rear frame triangle to the main frame with two rockers.
Our verdict on the Ibis HD6: The Ibis HD6 is the perfect playmate for experienced enduro riders. The outstanding chassis and sporty character entice the rider out of their comfort zone both uphill and downhill.
With the Spindrift, Propain makes it clear that freeride lives on as its own MTB category and has not yet been supplanted by enduro bikes. The brand new Spindrift 5 AL combines a lot of travel with a favourable price and is therefore also exciting for enduro riders looking for extra travel.
Our verdict on the Propain Spindrift 5 AL: It's great that the new Spindrift has remained a true freerider. With a whole host of build options, all needs are catered for without exception, without the need to go to the budget. At most, more compact chainstays remain unchecked on the wish list. Manoeuvrability and spec are impressive, but the real trump card in this duel is the Propain's powerful suspension.
The brand new Radon Jab MX enters the stage with a fighting spirit, combining top spec with a carbon frame and a low price tag. Given the current discount battles, this might not sound surprising at first, if it weren't for the fact that it's a a completely newly developed full carbon framewhich was only recently launched on the market.
In order to build on the old virtues of its predecessor, which still rolled on 27.5 inches, the new Jab MX also had an attractive weight in its specification. At just 14.5 kilos without pedals, the mission has been accomplished. This means that the new Jab, even with the 29-inch front wheel, keeps the competition at a distance of between one and three kilos.
Our verdict on the Radon MX 9.0: The new Radon Jab MX can be connected to the good virtues of the predecessor and delivers the best all-round characteristics with increased downhill performance.
System integration on all channels, even more downhill-orientated and well thought-out down to the smallest screw - after six years, Scott is finally breathing new life into its Ransom enduro bike. We have already subjected the newcomer to a fact and practical check.
Our verdict on the Scott Ransom 900 RC: The new Scott Ransom strikes the perfect balance between smoothness and playfulness. Coupled with the versatile chassis, low weight and great climbing performance, the bike covers an extremely wide range of uses. However, those who only value downhill performance will find more consistent models.
The Dartmoor Rocbird is the latest addition to the Polish bike brand's line-up, even though many will think of the world-famous hilly landscape in England when they hear the name Dartmoor. From the gravity-heavy product range of Dartmoor bikes, we have already tested the super enduro Thunderbird and the trail hardtail Primal.
Our verdict on the Dartmoor Rocbird Pro: The Dartmoor Rocbird Pro impresses with its first-class chassis and high-quality equipment. It shows its strengths in the bike park in particular, but requires an experienced rider due to its special geometry. A versatile enduro bike for demanding riders.
