Fox Racing presents the Ranger gloves is a genuine bestseller in the mountain bike segment that aims to impress with its exceptional price-performance ratio. With a price of 29.99 euros, the Ranger gloves are positioned in the mid-price segment, but are designed to deliver quality and functionality that go far beyond this.

Sophisticated functionality for trail use

The Fox Ranger gloves are designed to impress with their sophisticated construction, which is specially tailored to the requirements of mountain biking. A special feature is the flat neoprene cuff with Velcro fastening system, which enables individual adjustment and easy entry. The glove sits securely on the wrist without constricting or slipping.

A micro suede thumb offers practical added value, as it can be used to wipe sweat or clean glasses while riding. Particularly noteworthy is the touchscreen compatibility on the index finger and thumb, which is realised using conductive threads. This makes it possible to operate smartphones, GPS devices or other touchscreen displays without having to remove the gloves.

Gloves are wearing parts and are generally not particularly durable. All the better if they don't cost a fortune to buy. At just under 30 euros, the Ranger gloves are relatively inexpensive, but still boast some useful details. The Velcro fastener makes it easy to slip into the glove, and the neoprene cuff fits comfortably on the wrist.

Overall, the Ranger is rather small, but the fit is good. The fingers fit well and the palm does not crease when gripping the handlebars. Fans of a direct grip will find what they are looking for here, as there is no padding on the palm - the Ranger is definitely convincing in technical terrain. The silicone prints on the fingers also provide sufficient grip on the controls.

There are compromises to be made in terms of workmanship. The seams are not clean and the palm tends to pilling.Photo: Georg GrieshaberThere are compromises to be made in terms of workmanship. The seams are not clean and the palm tends to pilling.

We didn't like the less stretchy upper side, which tightens a little too much when gripping the handlebars and can be a little tiring in the long run. The wiping thumb is a little small and the ventilation is only moderate. There are no mesh inserts or anything similar on the Ranger. The workmanship was also not entirely convincing. The Fox's cuffs in particular are sewn inaccurately and the inside pills after the first few rides.
