In 18 years as a guide and around 45 crossings of the Alps, he has moved quite a few bikes over the mountains. From a titanium hardtail to a 160-millimetre fully, everything has been there. Let's get one thing out of the way first: you won't find anything as fast and comfortable as the Scott Spark RC World Cup AXS has never felt like it. The designers have done everything right with the geometry of the Spark - at least for my body measurements. The bike really pushes you forwards without the riding position feeling uncomfortable or aggressive. The handlebar/stem unit is lower than the saddle, something I haven't had for a long time. And none of the bikes I've been asked about more often than the Spark with its invisible damper. The brand-new, elegant carbon part immediately triggers a reaction in every serious mountain biker. "Can I pick it up?" Or: "Can I ride it a few metres?" And everyone came back with a grin.
Some of my Transalp participants even accused me of having an unfair advantage due to my low ready-to-ride weight of 10.8 kilograms. I can live with that. After all, I was allowed to ride over the Alps four times. 1314 kilometres and 22900 metres of altitude accumulated, all within 35 days. As the gondola was also used for some of the trails, the Spark RC covered even more metres in altitude than in depth.

We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, hundreds of thousands of euros every year.
