Fitted tubeless tyres but still have a puncture? No problem - even millimetre-sized holes in the casing can be repaired very easily and in a matter of seconds.

1 Prepare repair plug

Of course, you can also insert an inner tube if thorns or nails have left a hole in the tyre that the sealant alone cannot seal. However, this is quite a mess because of the remaining milk in the tyre. It is cleaner and much quicker with tubeless repair kits (for example from MaxalamiDynaplug or Muc-Off). Step 1: Remove the rubber repair plug from the packaging and attach it to the repair tool.

In our E-MTB special "All the facts for beginners" you will find even more useful information:

2 Insert plug into the hole

At the location of the hole, push the rubber plug into the casing using the repair tool. This may require some force. The Dynaplug tool works with an integrated cartridge. This allows the tyre to be immediately refilled with air as soon as the tool is inserted into the tyre.

3 Pull the tool out of the tyre

Push the plug one or two centimetres deep into the tyre. This will hold it securely. Then pull out the tool. If the hole is not too big, it is now sealed again.

4 Inflate tyres

Now inflate the tyre, preferably using a tubeless pump with a compressor to generate high pressure. A compressed air cartridge helps with punctures on the trail. If the ends of the plug are too long, shorten them with a knife or pliers - done!

Tubeless pump

The Joeblow Booster from Topeak is half air compressor, half floor pump. With the compressed air from the aluminium reservoir, tubeless tyres can be inflated quickly and effectively. Price: 179.95 euros >> e.g. available at a reduced price at Rosebikes.

Fitting aid for tubeless tyres

Tubeless tyres have to fit very tightly to ensure they stay sealed. Disadvantage: They are often difficult to fit and remove. Tip: Push the tyre deep into the centre of the rim well and use your entire body weight to push it over the rim. If this does not help, use sturdy, long tyre levers to extend the lever arm. Tyre mounting fluid (e.g. Schwalbe Easy Fit, 50 ml, 6,90 Euro) ensures that the rubber slides smoothly over the rim flank.
