In recent years, we have tested many different products. Bike accessories and clothing in particular have always been well received by our readers. We have now compiled a list of the most popular products currently on offer. The 17 products cover all possible product categories. There's something for everyone here!
Even though the Gonso trousers in our Cycling shorts test from 2022 can't quite keep up with the best trousers in the test, it's a real insider tip in terms of price-performance. The thinner and firmer padding remains pressure-resistant even on long rides, but requires well-retracted sit bones. The Gonso trousers may therefore not be the best choice for beginners. The fabric sits comfortably, even if it can sometimes be a little scratchy. The seamless straps are sufficiently taut and keep the trousers firmly in place. We also really liked the slightly longer trouser legs, whose wide and seamless cuffs effectively prevent them from riding up.
The Gore, also from the 2022 cycling shorts test, is a really pleasant skin flatterer. The material is soft and supple and the seams are barely noticeable. As long as the thighs are strong enough, the leg ends don't ride up, even though the silicone band is thin. However, it would be desirable for the material to have a little more elasticity. Although the straps are rubberised, they do not hold the trousers in place optimally and roll up a lot when you put them on. Gore has also opted for a thin, rather hard pad that distributes the rider's weight well and is also suitable for long rides. The windstopper in the crotch protects you from cooling down on long descents.
The SM Pro saddle from our Saddle test from 2022 offers a perfect combination of sportiness and comfort and is suitable for both racing and touring cyclists. Thanks to the flat seat area, you can easily change position while your sit bones have enough room and you can quickly find a comfortable position on the saddle. The slightly rising rear of the saddle provides additional support on steep climbs. Even long climbs can be ridden comfortably on the wide and comfortable nose.
The pressure is evenly distributed over the sit bones, while the slight depression ensures that the perineal area remains free even when riding uphill.
The GE1 handle from our MTB grip test from 2022 has a slightly conical shape that directs pressure to the outer ball of the foot and can improve the hand position on wide handlebars. Thanks to its texture and slightly angular shape, it offers good grip for the hand and fingers on off-road terrain. The GE1 also provides good cushioning and a pleasantly direct ride feel.
One of our absolute favourites is the Deathgrip handlebar grip (also from the 2022 MTB grip test). It not only impresses with its attractive design, but also with its well thought-out profile. The soft lamellae provide additional comfort on the thumb, while the waffle profile on the underside ensures a firm grip. The diamond structure also provides a good grip. The Deathgrip is also available in two different thicknesses.
The new race grip from Ergon (also from the 2022 MTB grip test) has a firm fit on the handlebars and sits securely without twisting. The slightly cylindrical shape of the grip relieves some of the strain on the hands and the additional grooves ensure a good grip. The GXR grip is firm and offers only moderate damping. Remarkable, considering that it is a grip without a clamp.
The Restrap Saddle Bag is part of a bikepacking set from Restrap that is available in our Bikepacking bag test received an overall score of 1.4. The Restrap Saddle Bag particularly impressed with its hold, loading and unloading, features and workmanship and received a 1.3. A little force is required for initial assembly, but the saddle bag then holds well even when heavily loaded.
This top tube bag is also part of the Restrap bikepacking bag set from our test. The Restrap Top Tube Bag scored particularly well in terms of assembly, support and workmanship, but had some shortcomings, especially in terms of impermeability, which is why the bag was ultimately rated 1.8.
The third bikepacking bag that we are including in this article is also part of the Restrap set. Just like the Saddle Bag, the Frame Bag was particularly convincing in the categories "Support", "Loading/unloading", "Equipment" and "Workmanship". The Frame Bag was also awarded a 1.3.
In our MTB tyre test two MAXXIS models were tested. Together with the Dissector, the MAXXIS Shorty was able to fully convince with its tread pattern. The open tread pattern at the front has the best self-cleaning properties in the test. The MTB tyre is easy to pull onto the rim, but only came in mid-table in terms of rolling resistance. MAXXIS is one of the best brands when it comes to traction and cornering grip.
The Wera Bicycle Set Torque 1 was in our Torque spanner test from 2023 Test winner. No points were deducted in any category.
The testers were delighted when they opened the Wera box. In addition to an immaculately crafted torque spanner, they also found the most important bits and two extensions. Despite its size, the torque spanner fits perfectly in the hand, making it easy to use even with small screws. The scale is easy to read and finely adjustable, with a precise grid. The tightening direction and the grip point are also displayed. The Wera spanner only triggers in one direction and is supplied with a full test certificate.
In our Knee pad test from 2021 we tested the ION K-Sleeve AMP. ION has revised its lightest protector and successfully certified it to Level 1. The long sock of the protector fits very tightly and takes some time to align properly: when putting it on, the seams may crack. The K-Sleeve AMP also runs rather small. The protector can wrinkle slightly when pedalling and pinch in the hollow of the knee. On the other hand, the sock with the wide stretch finish stays in place, even during long pedalling passages or when in contact with the ground. The protector can be easily removed and washed. The protector is also airy and can be stowed away to save space.
The Endura also made it into our knee protector test. Endura's lightweight trail protector is equipped with the breathable D3O Ghost protector and offers good ventilation thanks to the mesh material behind the knee. The wide silicone cuffs ensure a comfortable fit and keep the MT500 securely in place. The sock has a low stretch, which can lead to the pad lying slightly wrinkled over the knee and pinching in the hollow of the knee when pedalling. It is important to choose the right size to ensure an optimal fit. Although the protector is thin, it still offers good protection against impacts. One small disadvantage, however, is the lack of labelling on the protector. The mesh material tends to tear easily under tension. The protector can be packed away compactly.
The Lezyne CNC Pressure Drive from our Mini pump test is slim, well equipped and has an attractive, high-quality finish. The handle of the plunger is comfortable to hold and the hose sits securely. Even at maximum pressure, it is still very easy to handle.
The Aqua2Go Pro was one of the bike cleaners from our Test from 2019. It has a 20-litre water tank and two pressure levels up to 10 bar. The cleaner's battery lasts 29 minutes.
The lightshifters from our Sunglasses test from 2020 is extremely comfortable. The temples and nose bridge lie flat and ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Thanks to their lens shape, they offer good protection against draughts and only fog up minimally. However, the wide frame of the goggles can appear a little high and the lenses tend to scratch quickly. If you want to use the goggles off-road, you should bear in mind that they darken a lot and take a long time to lighten again.
The S2 glasses from 100% (also from our sunglasses test) are not only stylish, but also sit securely and comfortably on medium-width faces. It is important that they fit well, as they do not offer any adjustment options. Sometimes it can be a little tight from below. The glasses are particularly suitable for cloudy days, as they are very bright at first and react quickly to changes in light. The goggles' scratch protection is good and the field of vision is excellent. If the lens fogs up slightly, it clears up quickly.
