Lightweight lift: the new Fox Transfer SL
Cross country is all about weight. Saving weight means saving power. Fox wants to help sporty bikers with the lightweight version of its Transfer telescopic seatpost.

Telescopic seat posts have long been an integral part of enduro bikes, touring fullys and trail bikes. This is because the lightning-fast lowering of the saddle provides more freedom of movement downhill. But with cross-country bikes, every gram counts. Despite the advance of dropper posts in the XC World Cup, many sporty bikers often do without the comfort of a saddle that lowers at the touch of a button. With an SL version of the Transfer, Fox wants to have created the lightest mainstream dropper post and thus also convince weight-conscious racers of its advantages.

From 327 grams / 50-100 mm stroke / 3 diameters

The lightest version of the Transfer SL is said to weigh 327 grams. That is 128 grams and therefore around 25% less than the normal Fox Transfer. Even the light Vecnum Nivo (395 grams without remote at 90 millimetres stroke) would beat the new Fox post. Three different diameters are available. With 27.2 millimetres diameter, the Transfer SL is available with 50 and 70 millimetre stroke. With a diameter of 30.9 and 31.6 millimetres can choose between 75 and 100 millimetres can be selected. The weights are 342/352 grams and 347/359 grams respectively. Fox explains the low stroke with the uncompromising weight optimisation and the area of application in cross country.

Transfer SL for gravel bikes

Not only cross-country racers should feel the benefits of the retractable seatpost, the Transfer SL also fits into gravel bikes thanks to its small diameter of 27.2 millimetres. There is also the option of attaching the remote to curved gravel handlebars.

No stepless adjustment

The Fox engineers focussed on weight reduction during development. Unlike most dropper posts, the Transfer SL features a steel spring that pushes the saddle back up. This is intended to increase durability and minimise weight. However, the saddle can only be locked in the highest and lowest positions. The lightweight Fox seatpost is therefore not infinitely adjustable like most other Vario seatposts. The Transfer SL is available either in the Performance Elite version for 449 Euro and the factory version for 519 Euro - but without remote control.
