Trek X-Caliber 9

The 2022 "X-Caliber 9" model from Trek is a high-quality mountain bike, available at a price of 1,649 EUR. The frame is made from Alpha Gold aluminium and features a tapered head tube as well as internal cable routing for the derailleurs and Vario seatpost. The frame is also fitted with rack and mudguard mounts and has a Boost141 5 mm quick-release axle. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst its kerb weight is 12 kg.

The X-Caliber 9’s braking system comprises Shimano hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear, more specifically the MT4100 brake lever and the MT410 brake caliper, combined with Shimano RT56 brake discs with a 6-hole mounting pattern and a diameter of 180 mm. The gear lever is a Shimano SLX M7100 with 12 speeds, which enables precise gear-changing performance.

Suspension is provided by a RockShox Recon Gold RL fork with DebonAir spring, Motion Control damping and a lockout function. This fork features a tapered steerer tube, a 42 mm offset, Boost110 and a 15 mm Maxle Stealth axle, as well as 100 mm of travel. The pedals are VP-536 nylon platform pedals.

The crankset consists of a Shimano MT611 crank with a 30-tooth steel chainring and an aluminium spider. The chainline is 52 mm and the crank arm length is 175 mm. The external threaded bottom bracket is a Shimano SM-BB52 with a width of 73 mm. The cassette is also a Shimano SLX M7100 with a range of 10 to 51 teeth across 12 speeds.

The handlebars are Bontrager aluminium handlebars with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 750 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamps. The stem is a Bontrager Elite with a clamp diameter of 31.8 mm, Blendr compatibility, an angle of 7 degrees and a length of 80 mm. The headset is semi-integrated and features sealed compact bearings with aluminium cups (1 1/8" top, 1.5" bottom).

The tyres are Maxxis Ardent Race in size 29 x 2.35 (27.5 x 2.35 for frame sizes XS and S). The wheelset consists of Bontrager hubs with sealed bearings and Bontrager Kovee TLR rims. The rims are hollow-section, tubeless-ready, with an internal width of 23 mm and Presta valves.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with steel rails and a width of 138 mm. The seatpost is a TranzX JD-YSP18 with a travel of 130 mm, internal cable routing, a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 425 mm. The saddle is clamped using a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The X-Caliber 9’s packaging dimensions are 24 mm wide, 82 mm high and 143 mm long.
