Length runs, the X-Calibre is a long-range bomber.

The cheapest bike in a group test usually has a hard time. No matter how well it rides, it usually loses a few points due to its weaker spec. This is also the case with the X-Caliber, which Trek has been selling under the Gary Fisher label since this season. At 1964 grams, the frame is one of the heaviest in the field. It has a coherent geometry, but no technical highlights. In keeping with Fisher's philosophy, the bike has a long top tube, which makes for a sporty riding position that is fun both uphill and downhill (if you lower the stem). The X-Caliber is not the most agile bike on the test lap. Even if the gearing and brakes aren't top of the range, Trek has at least fitted a good fork. However, it lacks a quick-release seatpost and chainstay protector.
