Trek Roscoe 9

The 2023 model "Roscoe 9" from the Trek brand is a versatile mountain bike characterised by its robust construction and high-quality components. With a price tag of EUR 1999, it offers an excellent combination of performance and value.

The frame of the Roscoe 9 is made from Alpha Gold aluminium and features a tapered head tube and internal cable routing for the derailleur and dropper post. Other features include the ISCG 05 mount, a threaded bottom bracket shell and Boost148 standards with a 12 mm thru axle. The permissible total weight is 136 kg, while the bike itself weighs just 13 kg.

For the braking system, Shimano M6120 hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes are fitted at the front and rear, combined with M6100 brake levers and M6120 brake callipers. The brake discs are Shimano RT66 with a 6-hole disc mount, with a 180 mm disc at the front and another 180 mm disc at the rear.

The rear derailleur consists of a Shimano SLX M7100, 12-speed shifter and a Shimano Deore M6100 drivetrain, which also offers 12 gears. The fork is a Fox Rhythm 36 with Float EVOL air spring and GRIP damping, which offers 140 mm of travel. The crankset is an e*thirteen Helix with a steel chainring (30 t.), a shaft length of 73 mm and a chainline of 52 mm. The external threaded bearing is a Shimano SM-BB52, also with a width of 73 mm.

The bike has a Shimano SLX M7100 sprocket with a gradation of 10 to 51 teeth for optimum shifting behaviour. The handlebar is a Bontrager Line made of aluminium with a width of 750 mm and a rise of 27.5 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamp. The stem is a Bontrager Elite with a length of 35 mm and an angle of 0 degrees.

The headset is an FSA IS-2, which has a diameter of 1 1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Line Comp 30 rims, which are tubeless ready and have 28 spoke holes. The hubs are also from Bontrager, made from aluminium and have sealed bearings and a 6-hole disc mount.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with CrMo tube stays and a width of 138 mm. The seatpost is a TranzX JD-YSP18 with a stroke of 100 mm, internal cable routing, a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 361 mm. The seat clamp is a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The geometry of the Roscoe 9 comprises a reach of 42 mm, a stack of 63 mm, a seat tube length of 36 mm and a top tube length of 59 mm. The head tube angle is 65 degrees and the seat tube angle is 73 degrees. The head tube length is 9 mm, the chainstay length is 43 mm and the standover height is 74 mm. The total wheelbase of the bike is 115 mm.

The Roscoe 9 is therefore a well-equipped mountain bike that is suitable for various areas of use and impresses both in terms of performance and value for money.
