Scott Ransom 910

The "Ransom 910" model from Scott, released in 2023, is a state-of-the-art mountain bike designed for challenging off-road riding. Priced at 6,999 EUR, this bike falls into the premium category and offers a wide range of technical features that maximise both performance and comfort.

The Ransom 910’s frame is constructed from Ransom Carbon with IMP Technology and an HMX main frame. The BB92 bottom bracket standard and VLK Virtual 4 Link kinematics ensure excellent power transfer and stability. The frame is compatible with both 27.5" and 29" tyres, offering the rider flexibility in their choice of tyres. The SW dropouts for Boost 12x148mm and the TBC Trunnion Box construction further contribute to the frame’s robustness and durability. The maximum rider weight is 128 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 14 kg.

Optimal braking performance is provided by the Shimano XT M8120 4-piston disc brakes at both the front and rear. The front brake disc measures 203 mm and the rear 180 mm; both are Shimano SM-RT76 discs with 6-bolt mounting. The drivetrain is provided by the SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed groupset, including an SRAM GX Eagle trigger shifter and an SRAM GX Eagle DUB Boost crankset with 32 teeth. The cassette consists of an SRAM GX / XG1275 combination with a range of 10–52 teeth, allowing for a wide variety of gear ratios.

The suspension on the Ransom 910 is also top-class. The FOX 38 Float Performance Elite Grip 2 Air fork offers adjustable suspension with 170 mm of travel. The FOX NUDE TR EVOL trunnion shock, specially tuned by Scott, offers three modes: Lockout, Traction Control and Descend, with a travel of 170 mm as well. This combination ensures excellent control and comfort across a wide variety of terrain.

The aluminium Syncros Hixon handlebar, with a 20 mm rise and a width of 780 mm, offers stable and comfortable handling. The Syncros Pro lock-on grips provide additional grip and comfort. The stem is a Syncros XM1.5 made of aluminium, with a length of 50 mm and a 0-degree angle.

The wheels are Syncros Revelstoke 2.0 tubeless-ready, with a rim width of 30 mm and Boost-standard hubs (15x110 mm at the front, 12x148 mm at the rear). The tyres are Maxxis Assegai 2.5" at the front with EXO+ protection and Maxxis Dissector 2.4" at the rear, also with EXO+ protection, ensuring excellent grip and puncture resistance.

The Syncros Kaslo 1.5 saddle with titanium rails offers a high level of comfort, whilst the FOX Transfer Performance Elite dropper post allows for a variable adjustment range of up to 175 mm. Syncros Trail Fender mudguards are also included.

With a minimum rider height of 160 cm and a maximum rider height of 170 cm, the Ransom 910 is suitable for a wide range of riders. The bike’s geometry comprises a reach of 406 mm, a stack of 614 mm, a seat tube length of 420 mm and a top tube length of 571 mm. The head tube angle is 65 degrees, the seat tube angle is 75 degrees and the chainstay length is 438 mm. Other key dimensions include a bottom bracket drop of 22 mm, a fork offset of 51 mm, a standover height of 745 mm, a fork top height of 577 mm and a wheelbase of 1183 mm.
