Focus Whistler 3.9

The 2022 "Whistler 3.9" model from Focus is a well-equipped mountain bike available for €1,149. The frame is made from 6061 aluminium and features 3D-forged components, a disc brake mount and internal cable routing. The bike is designed for a maximum load of 110 kg and weighs 13 kg itself.

Reliable braking performance is provided by Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, with a 180 mm front rotor and a 160 mm rear rotor. The drivetrain features the Shimano SLX M7100, 12-speed, whilst the shift levers are from the Shimano Deore M6100 range. The crankset and cassette are also part of the Deore M6100 series, ensuring consistent quality throughout the drivetrain.

The SR Suntour Epixon 9 Air LOR fork offers 80 mm of travel and is fitted with a 9x100 mm quick-release skewer, ensuring a stable and comfortable ride. The handlebars are 720 mm wide aluminium risers which, together with the 60 mm long stem – also made of aluminium – provide a comfortable riding position.

The RODI Viper 21 rims, combined with the Schwalbe Smart Sam 2.25 tyres, provide a robust and grippy foundation for a variety of off-road conditions. The spokes are made of black zinc, whilst the front and rear hubs are from Shimano (HB-TX505 and TC500 MS respectively) and are fitted with quick-release mechanisms.

The VELO VL3378 saddle sits on an aluminium alloy seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm. The Whistler 3.9’s geometry comprises a reach of 375 mm, a stack of 605 mm and a top tube length of 549 mm. The head tube angle is 68 degrees, whilst the seat tube angle is 74 degrees. Other dimensions include a head tube length of 120 mm, a chainstay length of 440 mm, a bottom bracket drop of 48 mm, a fork offset of 42 mm and a crank length of 170 mm. The bike’s wheelbase measures 1,079 mm in total.
