Test: Focus Black Forest 29R 3.0
The harmonious design and details such as internally routed cables give the Focus Black Forest 29R 3.0 a high-quality impression with the look of a real racer. The Focus hardtail for 1299 euros in the test.

Only a closer look at the Focus reveals its price of 1299 euros. In return, the customer gets a bike with a great riding position and very good-natured handling, which ensures perfect control and a lot of confidence on the descents. However, due to the rather heavy wheels and comparatively favourable spec, the Focus is not one of the most sprinty bikes in this test and needs to be accelerated with vigour. In wet conditions, the inexpensive and low-profile Continental Race King tyres reach their limits early on. The lack of a quick-release seatpost clamp is more specialised than universal. On the other hand, the Shimano rear derailleur with friction damper keeps the chain in check wonderfully.

Test summary of the Black Forest 29R 3.0

The Black Forest impresses with its looks and the perfect riding position. The equipment and weight could be better.

PLUS Successful, integrated seating position, safe handling
MINUS Weakly profiled tyres, heavy wheels, only available in three sizes
