Focus Thron 6.9

The "Thron 6.9" model from Focus, released in 2021, is a versatile mountain bike that, at a price of EUR 2,999, falls within the mid-range price bracket. The frame is made from 7005 hydroformed aluminium and, thanks to the F.O.L.D. Gen2 kinematics, offers 130 mm of suspension travel. The construction is robust and designed for a maximum rider weight of up to 110 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs in at 15 kg.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano XT M8120 brakes with 4 pistons at the front and M8100 brakes with 2 pistons at the rear. The Thron 6.9’s suspension is provided by a FOX 34 Float Rhythm fork with 130 mm of travel and a FOX Float DPS Performance shock, also offering 130 mm of travel. The Post Moderne Dropper Post seatpost ensures additional comfort. The aluminium handlebars are 760 mm wide and are integrated with a FOCUS C.I.S. stem, which has a length of 50 mm.

The wheelsets consist of RODI TRYP25 rims fitted with Maxxis Dissector tyres in size 2.4 Exo. The hubs are from Novatec, with the front hub being the D041 model and the rear the D462SB. The saddle is a Selle Italia X3, which offers comfort for longer rides.

The bike has a geometry designed for agility and stability, with a head tube angle of 66 degrees and a seat tube angle of 75 degrees. The top tube length is 605 mm, whilst the wheelbase is 1173 mm. These dimensions contribute to balanced riding dynamics that are suitable for both climbs and descents.
